Dan Gould
During mating season, a male topi antelope will try to keep females in heat from leaving his territory by pretending that a predator might be in the area, according to a study that will appear in the July issue of The American Naturalist. When a female appears to be leaving, the male will run in front of her, freeze in place, stare in the direction that she is going and snort loudly. Typically, that snort means that a predatory lion or cheetah was spotted, but in this case the male is faking it. ... Hearing the snort, the female antelope generally retreats back into the male’s territory, where he will attempt to mate with her right away. So, when the hot girl tries to leave, the guy does whatever he can to make her stay, then puts the moves on her. More here.
Quincy
I'll try this behavior in the bar tonight and see how well it works. I love the subject title. It sounds like it might get used as a strip in Pearls Before Swine.
Dave James
The real question that should be addressed by this scientific study is what happens afterwards. Does the male stay and cuddle or does he make up reasons he needs to leave? I'm going to be really disappointed if I find out it's anything other than the latter. That would really be "douchie". Dan Gould
Well I went with "douchie" but really, in the absence of Axe body spray, tats, Jesus bling and other signifiers of choad, can we really conclude anything but that male antelopes are just like male humans? And yes, I am a fan of Hot Chicks with Douchebags. The site, not the combination.
