papsrus Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I have this four-disc set but have either misplaced or lost the booklet, or it came with none. Got it used, so I can't recall. Anyhow, does anyone know where I might find a Noone discography or specific track information for this release? I've snooped around a bit, with limited success. Thanks. Quote

I can send you a Jimmie Noone discography by BRUYNINCKX as a Word document. PM me if you're interested Quote

ghost of miles Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 How is the booklet that accompanies the JSP Noone set? I have a used copy of that on the way... been on a Noone kick for the past couple of days, ever since hearing "Travlin' All Alone" on one of the Jazz in the Charts CDs. Quote
king ubu Posted January 17, 2014 Report Posted January 17, 2014 These come in separate jewel cases, flimsy cardboard around, each disc with a one-fold booklet containing notes (some or most of the times expanding to the back page). Can't tell you specifically about the Noone, but usually they're to-the-point factual and given the small space pretty good - but that's just one man's opinion, of course ... and a man's that has not too nany JSP sets. Guess I should have a closer look at the Noone Quote
jazztrain Posted January 18, 2014 Report Posted January 18, 2014 I seem to remember having posted this before, perhaps in a different thread, but the JSP Jimmie Noone box has a mistake. Track 4 of CD1 is listed as "Messin' Around" by Cookie's Gingersnaps from January 22, 1926. It is "Messin' Around" but it's a different version by a group that does not even include Jimmie Noone. The version on the CD is the by Jimmie Blythe and His Ragmuffins from July 26, 1926. The clarinetist on that version is Johnny Dodds. Quote
