chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I am honored to have seen the man himself rock the house down last year, RIP RJD Quote
Shawn Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 One of the most important musical figures of my teenage years. The man had one of the most amazing natural voices I've ever heard. I feel like I lost a family member. Quote
Tom 1960 Posted May 17, 2010 Author Report Posted May 17, 2010 While I was never a huge fan, the guy could sing. I saw a show a few years back on VH1 Classic of a performance at Radio City Music Hall with Heaven and Hell and he still could pull it off. No easy feat especially for a guy singing metal in his 60's. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 This was confirmed and denied several times over the weekend. Guess if AP says it, it's true. Quote
Alexander Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 A great talent and a tremendous voice. I like to think that (even though I don't really believe it) Ronnie is jamming with Randy Rhodes and gossiping about Ozzy even as we speak... Quote

An amazing natural voice is right on. Dude was a true metal head, living and breathing it right up to the end. RIP, Ronnie James. I think they could have a chuckle or two about what Ozzy has been doing for the last 7-8 years. Quote

medjuck Posted May 17, 2010 Report Posted May 17, 2010 I'm not into this type of music but I hung out with Ronnie Dio one afternoon about 30 years ago. He was doing a song for an animated film we made. Seemed like a nice guy. Quote
Shawn Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Tony Iommi's official response: Black Sabbath/Heaven & Hell guitarist Tony Iommi has released the following statement regarding the passing of his bandmate: "Yesterday 16th May my dear, dear friend Ronnie James Dio passed away at 7.45am L.A. time. "I've been in total shock; I just can't believe he's gone. "Ronnie was one of the nicest people you could ever meet. We had some fantastic times together. "Ronnie loved what he did, making music and performing on stage. He loved his fans so much. He was a kind man and would put himself out to help others. "I can honestly say it's truly been an honor to play at his side for all these years. "His music will live on forever. "Our thoughts are with Wendy Dio [Ronnie's wife/manager] who stood by Ronnie until the end. He loved her very much. "The man with the magic voice is a star amongst stars, a true professional. "I'll miss you so much, my dear friend." Quote
AndrewHill Posted May 18, 2010 Report Posted May 18, 2010 Wow, can't believe he's dead. What a great performer (saw him on the Sacred Heart and Dream Evil tours in the late 80's) and a great singer too. The man had a pretty incredible range. Dug him with Sabbath too. Quote
catesta Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 There is a memorial Sunday May 30th in LA. The Official Ronnie James Dio Fan Page The Public Memorial Service for Ronnie is THIS Sunday at 2:00 PM at the Hall Of Liberty at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills located at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive. This will be a CELEBRATION of the life and music of Ronnie James Dio and all fans and friends are welcome. I see the dumb fucks from Westboro Baptist will be there. "Ronnie hates prejudice and violence!!! We need to turn the other cheek on these people that ONLY know how to hate someone they didn't even know. We only know how to love someone that we do know!"- Wendy Dio Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 Why are the Phelpses even there? Quote
Shawn Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 How low can you possibly go, picketing a man's funeral? Come on. Quote
clifford_thornton Posted May 26, 2010 Report Posted May 26, 2010 They usually reserve it for veterans. Quote
tjluke68 Posted May 27, 2010 Report Posted May 27, 2010 Will the masses picket, just for the fuck of it, when one of them die? These pigs are disgusting excuses for humans... Quote
