The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Looks interesting. Do tell us about it afterwards, Chewy! MG Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 the jazz crusaders were excellent. the (electric)crusaders were a horse of a different color. Quote
sidewinder Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 Too bad that they couldn't include Buster Williams ! Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I hope they do "Agua Dulce," which is one of my regular DJ tracks. Amazing. Quote
JSngry Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 I mean, for real, where is Stix? Because Wayne was the first one to leave, and there were "rumors" about ruffled feathers over that amongst the rest over the years. Maybe everybody but Stix got over it? Anyway, all the videos I can find of Terrail Moody are bashy drum solos, and who is Damian Harris other than the film guy? Wilton Felder, though, that's the guy! Quote
The Magnificent Goldberg Posted May 8, 2010 Report Posted May 8, 2010 sTIX IS OLDER THAN THE OTHERS. pERHAPS HE KNOWS MORE. (Shit!) MG Quote
SGUD missile Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 I mean, for real, where is Stix? Not to name drop, but I know Stix -I've done some record projects with him. I'll try to either call or email him and find out whazzup. Quote
Peter Johnson Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 Hey Phil! Good to see you back here! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted May 13, 2010 Author Report Posted May 13, 2010 yea stix is not there, nor buster williams, but still omg, AND ITS COMMING TO TOWN. i am so all over this. i better get tickets soon. do you think its all acoustic or will joe do 80s crusaders stuff as well? Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 15, 2010 Report Posted May 15, 2010 It would be great is Buster Williams would join the reunion at some point. Quote
mikelz777 Posted June 6, 2010 Report Posted June 6, 2010 (edited) So what are the reviews of this show? What kind of stuff did they play? (early? late? both? stuff from "solo" careers?) How did they sound? Like the Jazz Crusaders or the pale imitation after Henderson left? I'd be curious to catch one of their tour dates but I'd probably be a lot less interested if they were only playing the less jazzy stuff from the "Free As The Wind" era and later. Teasing the Korean Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 Did they do "Agua Dulce?" If not, they're washed up. Get it? "Agua?" "Washed up?" Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 7, 2010 Report Posted June 7, 2010 A certain website had the "best" performances from one night's shows. The samples sounded OK but I couldn't be moved to join in. Quote
mikelz777 Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 (edited) So has anyone here actually seen one of their reunion shows yet? If so, I'd really appreciate a review of the show. While we wait for someone to (hopefully) chime in, please enjoy the following clips from the Frankly Jazz show. Young Rabbits Freedom Sound Tortoise And The Hare (The video is bad on this one. You get the reverse or "negative" of what it should be.) A certain website had the "best" performances from one night's shows. The samples sounded OK but I couldn't be moved to join in. Do you happen to have a link or the address? Edited June 8, 2010 by mikelz777 Quote
Dan Gould Posted June 8, 2010 Report Posted June 8, 2010 Thanks for that link, I don't think I was aware of a Frankly Jazz youtube channel. I exchanged emails with Lance Evans, Frank Evans' son, when I stumbled across a website which was never expanded beyond the front page. Cool that he's sharing clips from his dad's show, just wish there were more. Quote
