Bert to tour with Neil Young – May/June 2010 – and then appear at Crossroads Festival June 2010

In his first live appearances since the illness which caused the cancellation of last summer's North American tour and UK dates, Bert is set to go on tour in the US with Neil Young in May. Bert will be Neil's special guest on the “Twisted Road” tour which kicks off on May 18 2010 in Albany, NY. The full list of dates is:

May 19 – Buffalo, NY @ Shea's Performing Arts Center

May 21 – Worcester, MA @ Hanover Theatre

May 23 – Wallingford, CT @ Oakdale Theatre

May 24 – Washington, DC @ Constitution Hall

May 26 – Louisville, KY @ Palace Theatre

May 27 – Knoxville, TN @ Knoxville Civic Auditorium

May 29 – Atlanta, GA @ Fox Theatre

May 30 – Spartanburg, SC @ Spartanburg Memorial Auditorium

June 1 – Nashville, TN @ Ryman Auditorium

June 2 – Nashville, TN @ Ryman Auditorium

June 4 – Houston, TX @ Jones Hall

June 5 – Austin, TX @ Bass Performance Hall

June 7 – Dallas, TX @ Meyerson Symphony Center

Bert will follow this with an appearance at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival in Chicago on June 26 2010. Bert was asked personally by Eric to appear at his day-long celebration of the guitar at Toyota Park, Chicago, held in aid of The Crossroads Centre in Antigua, a treatment and education facility founded by Clapton for chemically dependent persons. Others confirmed on the extensive bill include Albert Lee, Buddy Guy, BB King, Jeff Beck, Robert Cray, Sheryl Crow and, of course, Eric Clapton himself. I was talking to a co-worker this morning about Neil's upcoming Palace Theatre date in Albany, NY.. According to him tickets are running in the neighborhood of $150. I think not. :tdown

some people on the Hoffman forum think those ticket prices are perfectly ok. I don't get it. I think they are overpriced. Anything over $50 is overpriced, I don't care who it is.

He's been charging hefty prices for several years now, in fact he was something of a pioneer with the CSN&Y reunions. I'm glad I got to see him a bunch in the '80s for around $15 (or less than $50 in today's dollars.) I can't remember where I read it but I recall an Onion-like jokey article about fans taking out 2nd mortgages to see him in concert.
