epistrophy007 Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 Spotted this one on some blog and thought I just had to share it with all of you who like this kind of vocalalbums, or for the ones who like Carl Perkins... You can also read what Billboard had to say about this album. http://the-crime-in-your-coffee.blogspot.com/2010/02/inez-jones-have-you-met-inez-jones.html Inez Jones, now completely forgotten, made just one record for Riverside in '57. I believe she appeared in the same period on an episode of 'Stars of Jazz' or some kind of program. On guitar Oscar Moore and at the piano...Carl Perkins!!! Enjoy. j. Quote
JSngry Posted April 3, 2010 Report Posted April 3, 2010 HEard it. Like it well enough..."local talent" in the good way, not unlike Dodo Greene, although not nearly as idiosyncratic...worth at least one or two good listens, that's for sure! Quote
Big Wheel Posted April 4, 2010 Report Posted April 4, 2010 Huh, didn't remember seeing this session in Noal Cohen's Perkins discography, but indeed, there it is. For other obscure Perkins, I seem to remember liking that GNP date with Frank Morgan and Wardell Gray quite a bit. Quote
