neveronfriday Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 With a record 63 users online not so long ago we're going to reach 100,000 posts in no time. Any suggestions as to how we should celebrate this event? Suggestions welcome. Quote
catesta Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Good question. It would be cool to shatter the most users ever online record at the same time. Quote

catesta Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I saw them do this on another board. A thread was started and a date and time for all possible members to be online at the simultaneously was agreed on. We'll probably have to do something similar. Quote
Daniel A Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 The best way to arrange it would probably be to ask Jim when (weekday and time) the previous all-time-highs have been (and when there is a potential for as many members as possible to participate), and choose an appropriate time for the event. Jim Alfredson Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 The most prolific post days seem to be Thursdays first and Fridays second. As far as time... mid-afternoon eastern standard time seems to be the kicker. Anywhere between 2pm and 6pm. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I'll be there! Maybe we can cook ol' James T. and have a BBQ. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Aren't we jumping the gun here anyway? I thought this board was doomed.... Quote
catesta Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 It is, we will just sending it off with a bang. Quote
mikeweil Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I'm in, if I manage to calculate the time shift correctly Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 The most prolific post days seem to be Thursdays first and Fridays second. Look here: just because I'm normally off on Thursdays and Fridays is no reason to talk about "prolific" and such.... Quote
Peter Johnson Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I'll be there! Maybe we can cook ol' James T. and have a BBQ. I prefer Panang Cat, myself... Quote
catesta Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Absolutely, start passing the hat. Quote
connoisseur series500 Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 I'm in, if I manage to calculate the time shift correctly That's right Jim A. You and I are on Eastern Standard Time. Johnny uses Moscow Standard... Quote
JSngry Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Are we going to play "Break The Server"? Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 100 ONLINE @ 100K! According to my server guy, the database can only handle 100 instructions at a time. Does that mean we can only have 100 members on at once? No, it means 100 people can access the database at the same time. But of course you only access the server to pull up a thread, or respond, or whatever. The time spent reading the thread, typing the response, etc... is time that you are NOT accessing the server. So even if we do get 100 people on, we'll be fine! Quote
JSngry Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Then let's go for 200! Each one bring one. Quote
couw Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 Eastern Standard Time = GMT-5 ?? between 2 and 6 PM = GMT 19.00 - 23.00 come on people! THINK global! We're citizens of the WORLD in this cyberspace :rsly: anyhow, I'll bet this whole 100K thing is gonna blow gently past us anytime during the Christmas holidays and nobody's gonna notice... Quote
catesta Posted December 6, 2003 Report Posted December 6, 2003 anyhow, I'll bet this whole 100K thing is gonna blow gently past us anytime during the Christmas holidays and nobody's gonna notice... Probably true. I would still like to see if we can pass at least 100 users online at the same time. Quote
king ubu Posted December 8, 2003 Report Posted December 8, 2003 Eastern Standard Time = GMT-5 ?? between 2 and 6 PM = GMT 19.00 - 23.00 come on people! THINK global! neveronfriday Posted December 9, 2003 Author Report Posted December 9, 2003 UP! About 14.000 to go. Come on guys. Let's have a thread about a nude something or rather, dirty jokes, beer test results, the worst recordings ever, Christmas songs that suck ... or let's just start some polls to have people evicted from the site. Degenerative diseases recognized in American Presidents, the "old" Europe striking back, White Punks on Dope, X-Mas mambo recordings, best Christmas recipes, everyone's fave New Year punch bowl, pictures of Organissimo board members in drag, etc. One of the above should send the post count skyrocketing. Cheers! Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 9, 2003 Report Posted December 9, 2003 'Members in Drag' is sure to draw a crowd(like we're not homely enough!) Quote
