Cover sticker says remastering by the original engineer from the original tapes (I thought this was true of the previous version) and it comes in digipak form 2 disc set with a DVD regarding the making of each of the original 3 studio albums. Consensus on the Hoffman board seems to be that these are the same "remasterings" as the 1997 releases for the core albums. Though aytpically noone has yet done the Hoffman thing of slapping EAC graphs all over the place to prove this and that. Seems many think they are less "loud" and "compressed." I bought them because I'm a Jimi nut. The general opinion I've gotten from Jimi fans on and off line is that they're not biting on any except Valleys of Neptune. And FYI, the version at Target has two bonus tracks (not completely unreleased bonus tracks, but they're only otherwise available on one of the "Dagger" releases). Shawn Posted March 18, 2010 Report Share Posted March 18, 2010 Well, I can definitely tell you that Valleys is worth getting, in fact, even if you're a casual fan of Hendrix this is a must-own. The version of Red House on here could be the best I've ever heard. I'm considering getting the vinyl reissues of the original albums.
