doubleM Posted December 13, 2003 Report Posted December 13, 2003 I just got the ProperBox, and really like it. He wasn't really big on space, but I still don't find his lines to be mechanical. The live stuff is quite exciting. What a motherfucker! Quote
jeffcrom Posted April 8, 2009 Report Posted April 8, 2009 I'm in a hotel room 400 miles from home, watching/listening to Tristano's 1965 Copenhagen Concert on my iPod. I bought the DVD some time back, but never really explored it. I can't believe what I was missing. The opening "Darn That Dream" is just stunning - as amazing and astringent a reworking of a standard as Monk's "I Should Care." I've got everything issued by him except for the Betty Scott CD and some of the other 1965 European recordings, and I didn't think anything could make me think more highly of Tristano than I already did, but this concert does it. jazzcorner Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 One of my favorites is this one: Quote
Gheorghe Posted December 13, 2019 Report Posted December 13, 2019 Yes, that´s it ! And this is also interesting. Early Tristano from 1946/47 with 2 different bassists, and Billy Bauer on guitar. Quote

Jim Duckworth Posted February 20, 2020 Report Posted February 20, 2020 I'm really partial to the Bands for Bonds broadcasts-mainly for Lennie T and Billy Bauer's comping behind Charlie Parker. Quote
romualdo Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 would love some of the Savory Tristano material to be eventually released - some nice material there - I listened to a portion of it at the Harlem Jazz Museum when I was in the states in 2017 Quote
Gheorghe Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 I also have this. But I know the Broadcasts still from the LP era, they were presented on Musidisc and Spotlite. Really fine Allstar Setting and yes, their comping behind the soloists is very interesting. And also behind Sarah Vaughan on that one track "Everything I have is yours". Quote
Jim Duckworth Posted February 21, 2020 Report Posted February 21, 2020 Plus it's kind of surreal hearing Bird and Lennie T do Tiger Rag! Quote
