You've tried lutefisk, I'm sure you can handle it. PS: my reaction to the chelada was exactly like this guy's: http://www.chow.com/stories/11552
Dave James
When I played slo-pitch softball, our post game beverage of choice, especially at tournaments when a little less alcohol in your system was a good idea, was what we called red beer. Beer and tomato juice with a dash of salt. 2/3'rds beer, 1/3 tomato juice.
Son-of-a-Weizen
Yes, Lutefisk....and washed down with Aquavit, the worst booze I've ever had. Proud of the 'ol Norwegian roots but a guy's got his limits and I had to pour close to a full bottle down the drain! Blech! PS: my reaction to the chelada was exactly like this guy's: http://www.chow.com/stories/11552 Never heard of this stuff before you mentioned it! Horrors! I actually like Akvavit - I acquired a taste for it from my cousins, who had picked up a bunch of bottles of Aalborg when they lived in Copenhagen and gave me what was left of the last one when they moved to a different house. I currently have a nice bottle of OP Andersson from Sweden sitting in the freezer - much more balanced and less of a rye bread taste compared to the Aalborg. There is a place in Austin - can't remember which - that serves "beer mary's" or beer and bloody mary mix (they don't have a liquor license). I recall it not being too bad. PHILLYQ
Not quite as horrible as pizzabeer, but a travesty IMHO is the pizzacone: http://gothamist.com/2010/02/22/pizza_in_a_cone_rolls_out_in_manhat.php
Dave James
I know this is off topic, but the discussion of the pizza cone (which looks like a decent idea to me) reminded me of pretzel cones for ice cream. If you're a fan of salty and sweet, get yourself one of these with a nice big scoop of vanilla ice cream. Mmm, mmm, good.
