Avishai Cohen fan looking for some other music

Hi everybody,

I´ve just signed in and I must admit I know anything about jazz... I just happend to fall in love with Avishai Cohens music. I´ve seen two concerts he had recently in Prague and I also have bought his CDs. But there are no Avishai concerts in plan for Prague in 2010, so I am looking for something else.

Could you recommend me some other music which I could like so that I could start to getting to know jazz music a little...

I love Avishais CD Continuo the most.

Please tell me some more names I should look for.

I am realy sorry to post such a stupid question, I realy dont know anything more about jazz music, but I seek for some help with discovering it.

I just saw him with the SF Jazz Collective. I presume that he's on their latest cd,

^ I think he means the Bass player not the Trumpeter. I didn't know the trumpeter was in the collective, interesting. Need to check them out this year.

For the bass player and back to the top post If you like the Avashi Cohen Piano trio record Gently Disturbed try Chick Corea's Past, Present & Futures which Avashi plays bass on. Maybe check out some other newish piano trio's like Danilo Perez and Brad Mehldau.

If you liked Continuo and the Oud playing try Ahmed Abdul-Malik - Jazz Sounds of Africa. You might also want to check out Anouar Brahem who also plays the Oud, try Thimar and Astrakan Cafe.
