I've always TRIED to like her - but there is a self-focused quality that puts me off. Interesting woman, though.

Growing up in the environment she was born into, she had no other choice ... as controversial as she was at times, she did alot for the consciousness of women and for that of black women in particular. 

I fell somewhat honoured I share her birthday - I spinned some of her discs last Sunday.

[Teasing the Korean]

A friend of mine is a HUGE Nina Simone fan. He and his wife got to see her live a few years before she died.

The next day, I asked him how the concert was. His reply: "One day, I'll have a great story to tell, but right now I feel like I was robbed of a hundred bucks."
