clifford_thornton Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 I prefer Sade in PowerPoint. Although most music does pretty well in Word. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 (edited) I was expecting a thread about the marquis! A smooth operator at one time, I've read. Edited February 10, 2010 by Bev Stapleton Quote
Ron S Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 ^^^ Please, Bev, let's keep that S&M stuff in the classical forum. Quote
Free For All Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Saw her this morning on the Today show. Lip syncing, but still looks great! Quote

jazzbo Posted February 9, 2010 Report Posted February 9, 2010 Hey to each their own. She's a favorite of mine. I have the new one in the mail to me. Quote
jazzhound Posted February 9, 2010 Author Report Posted February 9, 2010 i wonder if this is available as a 45? Quote
Free For All Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) boy guys wait until lon gets here! u r in big trouble!!! Why? Did anyone say anything negative? I just said she was lip syncing. No judgement. I like her singing, I'd just prefer to hear her actually sing live rather than lip sync. Edited February 10, 2010 by Free For All Quote
jazzbo Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the headsup on that, I'll see if I can find a clip to watch the Today Show. I know you like her singing. And it's okay if Bev doesn't, he likes other singers that I . . . don't. I'd love Sade even if she didn't sing and write so well. Edited February 10, 2010 by jazzbo Quote
Dave James Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 Lon, you're not fooling anyone, you're just a sucker for a pretty face. Here's an article from the NYT that ran a couple of days ago. Not only do I like her music, but I like her "I'll do what I want to do when I want to do it" attitude. The anti-celebrity. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/02/07/arts/music/07sade.html?scp=2&sq=Sade&st=cse Quote
jazzbo Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I do think she's beautiful. Very much so. And she's so sexy in such a dignified way. I'm so happy my girlfriend also loves her music. Quote
jlhoots Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 She's on Letterman tonight. I plan to watch. Quote
king ubu Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 she don't need none of that silly voice/pitch-correction crap that ALL r'n'b chicks use these day.. that alone should make it worthwhile to check out! Quote
CJ Shearn Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I saw her on Letterman last night, good track. I will be picking this one up sometime Quote
jazzbo Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 I watched that clip this morning. I'm not that crazy about this title song, but I bet the cd is great. Nice to see her, she has the same "band" of musicians with her as for her last big tour. Quote
Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 after all these years it's good to see Sade's back. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 (edited) And it's okay if Bev doesn't, he likes other singers that I . . . don't. I bought her first album in the 80s and enjoyed it. No thoughts either way on her singing - I can't recall hearing anything subsequent. I certainly read very positive comments from people with little time for mainstream pop. Maybe I should give her a try! My comment was pure silliness and not intended to be derogatory! jazzbo Posted February 10, 2010 Report Posted February 10, 2010 OH I knew that. You may like her. . . she's especially striking a listen when you're in love or with a special someone! Her words and the mood of her music then connects as it doesn't at other times, for me at least. She's been a part of the soundtrack of the romance I've been living in since May 2008. Quote
JSngry Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I wish that Miles would have recorded with her. That would have been all kinds of right! Quote
riverrat Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 I wish that Miles would have recorded with her. That would have been all kinds of right! What would the session have been named? Kind of Right Kind of Nice Kind of Steamy Afterglowin with the Miles Davis Quintet I'm pretty sure you people can do better than this.. Quote
AllenLowe Posted February 11, 2010 Report Posted February 11, 2010 she's too "jazzy" for me. Kinda like Rickie Lee Jones. Quote

Besides, I'd have liked for Miles to have recorded with her, not the other way around! Quote
