Alexander
That wasn't the Who. There hasn't been a "Who" since Keith Moon left us. Now that was a band! Yes, they were a great band. But Roger and Pete still CALL themselves the Who and they have the right to do so. So, yes, there still is a band called the Who. Their last album, "Endless Wire," wasn't too bad either. The problem wasn't so much Pete and Roger as the fact that they just can't play the older songs like they used to (no shame in that...everybody gets older). "Endless Wire" had some quite good songs on it and those songs suited their voices in a way that their old stuff no longer does. I kind of wish they had played something like "Mike Post Theme" along with the hits...As for the game, I was pulling for the Saints but I really thought the Colts would take it in the end. I'm pleasantly surprised at the outcome...
connoisseur series500
The Who suck. Ah, they don't suck. They're just old. I was telling my daughter about what a great band the Who USED to be while we were watching the halftime show... You misunderstand "old". Those guys sucked. Chuck's on the money. That was a terrible group of musicians out there at halftime.Congrats to the Saints. I thought they were the better team going in, and they proved it. The Colts overachieved all year, imo. Their no-name defense has some speed, but the team is basically just peyton Manning and Dallas Clark and Reggie Wayne. Not enough to win the big one, I'm afraid. Now they'll drift to obscurity as Super Bowl losers normally do on the following season. But to our Indy fans, I must say congrats on a good year. You guys overachieved in a year when people were predicting you would likely not even win the division. Gotta give credit to superb drafting. Polian and his boys are terrific when it comes to drafting young football players. They are one of the best teams at doing so, along with the Steelers and Pats, and perhaps the Chargers and Giants. Tim McG
Pete Townsend can still play [the singing, well, he's 60 some] and the bass player who also plays for John Mayer was excellent, IMHO. Roger Daltrey's voice ain't what it used to be, but I thought he pulled off a game effort for a guy over 60. I liked the drummer as well. Just not the Who of old, I'm afraid. Oh, well. John Tapscott
Well, it was a pretty good game. I listened to jazz at half-time. I picked the Colts but it was good to see the Saints win for a lot of reasons, especially to see a new team added to the roster of Super Bowl winners. That only happens about once or twice a decade. The Colts coach Jim Caldwell seems like a good guy but he was really out-coached by Sean Peyton. I know the game is played on the field, but the Saints made better side-line decisions than the Colts. Coaching mattered in this game. One of the biggest blunders was when the Colts decided to try a 50 + yard field goal on 4th down when they had already converted a 4th down play earlier in the drive. JohnT
The drummer was Zak Starkey, son of Ringo Starr. I think his Dad would have been proud.
papsrus
... The Saints are going to be the most dynamic offense that the Colts will have faced possibly the entire year -- certainly in the playoffs. ... As long as they can trade punches and come up with some special teams plays, hopefully they'll be right there at the end. Great game! 1. On the coaching thing -- Sean Payton is a lot more hands-on during the game than Caldwell, calling the offensive plays, for instance, while Caldwell relies on his offensive coordinator to do that, etc. But regardless, the coaching for the Saints was superior in terms of both game planning and play calling. The onside kick to open the second half was brilliant, especially given that the Colts only had the ball for a little over 2 minutes in the second quarter and had to be chomping at the bit. Demoralizing for them. 2. Brees put on a clinic. As Steve Young said after the game, Brees was throwing his receivers open and putting the ball exactly where it needed to be to allow them to make additional yardage after the catch. And they were making a lot of additional yardage after the catch. Manning made some incredible throws also, particularly that one to No. 44 where the guy was surrounded by about five Saints defenders and Manning dropped it in to his hands on a deep route to the sideline. Incredible! But Brees was like a surgeon out there. 3. Colts receivers really underperformed, particularly Reggie Wayne. There were some key drops that had nothing to do with Manning, I don't think. If they had made those catches, maybe a different game. 4. The underdog finally won one in these playoffs, and it came at the very end. Amazing. (Yeah, the Jets were dogs in both their wins, but that was it, I think. And they weren't really dogs. Just ask Rex Ryan). JSngry
1. Demoralizing for them. The way they managed to get the ball back @ the end of the 1st half and get that 3 "anyway" was, to me, a sign of one of the most macro of macro-visions I've ever witnessed in a sporting event. Of course, it helped that the Colts went conservative when they got the ball back, a safe three-and-out, but the FG, and then the onside kick that led to the touchdown that they lost on 4th and goal from the quarter before, I mean, that's just not leaving any loose ends/unfinished business mentally or spiritually, and how often do you see that to that degree? Nothing dorpped w/o being picked up. Pretty damn impressive, I think.
GA Russell
Try as I might, I couldn't hear Pete Townsend's guitar. I don't think it was plugged in. I thought that Zak Starkey was the best guy out there. I've said for the past few years that North America (both leagues) is suffering from a shortage of good pass receivers. Too many guys in the pros have speed, and can't catch. Brees last night was throwing catchable balls, and the Saints receivers held on to them! jeffcrom
There's something indelibly sad about old rock 'n rollers. I don't think it has to be that way. But if you try to perform songs that are not suited to your point in life, it can get kind of ridiculous. I mean, "Teenage Wasteland?" At their age? Please! kenny weir
I thought it was a pitiful showing, as it was always going to be. Better them by far than Pictures Of Lilly or Substitute!

Jazzmoose
Regarding The Who, wished i was out of the room, they should stop bringing those geriatric bands who aren't playing a song that has been written the 25 last years. What's next Mike Love and the Beach Boys. That looks kind of funny on a board where so many people consider '60s Blue Note LPs as "modern jazz"...
