Kate McGarrigle has died

I just got an e-mail from a friend informing me that Kate McGarrigle has died. I'm a big fan of the McGarrigle Sisters and have Kate's composition "Kiss and Say Goodbye" as the ringtone on my phone. By my standards she was quite young-- 63.

I knew she was sick, still a shame, last time i saw her was with her sis last october doing vocals in a Emmylou Harris gig, she looked fine.

Rather sad january for the Montreal music community.

Thanks Kate for the great musical memories, thanks for giving us two talented kids who will hopefully be with us for many years.

The McGarrigles made quite a stir in the UK c.1975 when they first arrived - sounded like something from another planet.
