Niko Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 LA Times Obit RIP Johnny Griffin's Grab this with Bryant and Joe Pass was my most played album for quite some time... Quote
brownie Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Almost nothing but deaths today I was not aware of his film career. Sad to see him go too! Quote
sidewinder Posted January 14, 2010 Report Posted January 14, 2010 Sad news - another 'not a good day' for jazz. RIP. Quote
Matthew Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Goodness, another stellar musician dies this month. Bad way to start the year. RIP Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 17, 2010 Report Posted January 17, 2010 RIP great Curtis Amy collaborator Quote
king ubu Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 I've not heard anything but "Grab This" and the albums with Amy (on the Select). Fine player - r.i.p. Quote
Jaffa Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Sad, sad news: I adore his albums with Curtis Amy but I simply LOVE Pacific Jazz 12 ("Burnin'") issued under Paul Bryant's name ! Easily among my top 3 favorite organ-LPs: What a shame this has (to the best of my knowledge) never been re-issued on CD. Quote
mikeweil Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Is there enough Paul Bryant for a Mosaic Select, I mean without the Amy sessions? Quote
mikeweil Posted March 2, 2011 Report Posted March 2, 2011 Fresh Sound released a twofer CD coupling The Blues Message with Curtis Amy and Burnin' with Jim Hall: Quote
