king ubu
Cool site, Lon! - but is this not the same one that was mentioned in the other Wilen thread? And it shows what an awkward thing a discography based on album releases is (instead of using sessions as a timeline) ubu
couw
Cool site, Lon! - but is this not the same one that was mentioned in the other Wilen thread? yup. or was it mentioned in the discussion that followed the first BFTest? king ubu
Hell, was there Wilen on the first BT? I should have jumped in from the beginning! ubu
jazzbo
Maybe it was, I never checked that link because I thought it was another, earlier, discography site of Wilens. I'm sorry if I've duplicated this. . . . I found this today looking for sessions recorded on SoulStation1's birthday.
Jim R
I'm sorry if I've duplicated this. . . Lon, that was really a low thing to do. You ought to be ashamed of yourself! ubu, the Wilen track on Tony's BF test was a great one, too. “Swingin’ Parisian Rhythm (Jazz sur Seine)” from the Jazz In Paris CD series, the 1958 session with Milt Jackson, Percy Heath, and Kenny Clarke. I didn't have it at the time of the test, but I DO NOW!
brownie
Maybe it was, I never checked that link because I thought it was another, earlier, discography site of Wilens. I'm sorry if I've duplicated this. . . . I found this today looking for sessions recorded on SoulStation1's birthday. I'm the one who posted a link to that site on an earlier thread. No harm done Let's just keep the spirit of Barney Wilen alive. Did anyone check the Dragon CD 'Eje Thelin 1966 with Barney Wilen'? An excellent and very lively album that has two unissued date with the late Swedish trombone player Eje Thelin. Wilen is superb there. The CD was released several weeks ago. king ubu
Jim, thanks for the info! I got that CD (and love it!) - that was my very first Jazz In Paris disc! brownie: I never heard of that record! Will look for it, sounds very interesting, thanks! ubu
