chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 okokok so by now im sure youve all heard how i found "how low can you go"-Roz Croney the queen of the limbo on audio fidelity. ok i dont think theres such thing as limbo music, i dont know, but to me it sounds like calpyso or something,-- sun plays piano, "tack piano", and organ. gilmore does two solos on SOPORANO SAX! bass is ronnie boykins and pat patrick is on flute, the drummer too Quote
martini Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I picked up a stereo copy of this a few years ago (Dauntless 6309; the mono is 4309), and it is "off the hook" fun. My copy has a little more wear than I'd like (it is a VG copy), but it plays nicely. "Doggie in the Window Limbo" cracks me up. This album is a killer. Quote
Hoppy T. Frog Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 Fun bunch of silliness. Considering how many people haven't been able to find any more info about "Roz Croney" - where is she now, etc., I've long thought that no such person ever existed and that the name is just a humorous reference to band members as "Ra's cronies" or to the specific singer as "Ra's crony." This article in Ebony seems to imply she is real: http://books.google.com/books?id=deBupr5jEw4C&pg=PA119&lpg=PA119&dq=Roz+Croney&source=bl&ots=mxt04-IpJP&sig=gf2yMkSeRWx7W-iM8dC1-HBMN8E&hl=en&ei=LFJFS8K-JIuRlAfe8s0N&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=6&ved=0CBUQ6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=Roz%20Croney&f=false Quote

jazzbo Posted January 8, 2010 Report Posted January 8, 2010 I've listened to this courtesy of a blog. Um. . . .Totally forgettable in my opinion. Doesn't do much for me at all. But. . .if it floats any boats, let them sail! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted January 9, 2010 Author Report Posted January 9, 2010 i hear ya jazzbo, but i really like gilmore soprano sax solo and i like the "loop de loop limbo" Quote
