BERIGAN Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Damn...not a classic beauty, but sure came across as a sweet, funny girl in interviews. She used to be a bit chunky, back when she was in Clueless, I wonder if she was taking a ton of diet pills, or was on coke. Only 32.... http://www.tmz.com/2009/12/20/brittany-murphy-dies-cardiac-arrest Quote
clifford_thornton Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Oh shit, that's sad news. As one who liked her looks and spunk, she'll be missed. Things definitely went downhill for her once she hooked up with that Monjack tool. Quote
Van Basten II Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Did not know she was the voice of Luanne in King of the hill, anyway, way, way, way, way too young to die. RIP. Quote
Brad Posted December 20, 2009 Report Posted December 20, 2009 Heard she had a coronary. Pity to die at such a young age. Quote
GregK Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I had never heard of this person until I went to CNN.com around 5pm today. Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 i was saying earlier today how this is a shock, and i hope its not cocaine related, but its probably cocaine related-- then this chick was telling me she heard, how her husband, was in the ER about a week ago, with a similar condtion--- they probably got a bad batch or something....good god Quote
jazzbo Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 A beautiful talent gone so soon. Sad. Quote
Alexander Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I always enjoyed her work in "Sin City." RIP Quote
Chalupa Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 She was a pretty good comedic actress and did a nice job in Eminem's movie 8 Mile. One of my best memories of her however was from an appearance on Letterman. Not long after she broke up w/ Ashton Kutcher, Letterman had her on and asked her what she thought about Ashton's relationship w/ Demi Moore..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8O_nxivQJf8 Quote
GA Russell Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Anyone else find it odd that news reports are saying that she died in her husband's home? Was that not her home too? Quote

After seeing her in Sin City I had hoped for more roles for her, as she seemed like a genuinely good & funny person. R.I.P. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I had never heard of this person until I went to CNN.com around 5pm today. I have to admit, this thread is the first time I've seen the name. Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) Same here, before this thread, I never heard of her. Now reports are saying she had flu-like symptoms for the past few days. Edited December 21, 2009 by Hardbopjazz Quote
Noj Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I'd heard the name but not seen her movies, and I recognized Brittany in the pictures on the web. My Mom was saddened by the loss, she liked a number of the movies Murphy appeared in. I saw my 12-year-old niece find out, and she had a look of shock, disbelief, and finally grief come across her face I'd never seen from her. My niece didn't cry, but she really couldn't believe it for a second and then I saw the realization hit her. I hated to see that. It's a shame, Brittany Murphy was a pretty girl with so much going for her. RIP Quote
jazzbo Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I knew who she was, but the first time I really "noticed" her was in Sin City, in which she did a good job. It's a shame. I hope it wasn't drug related. Quote
Kevin Bresnahan Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 If you can, find her last pictures from the Tt Collection's Popup show. I would bet Anorexia Nervosa. She looked like she weighed about 60 lbs. So sad. Quote
Neal Pomea Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I wondered about her weight too. She played a good part in Girl, Interrupted, which wasn't too bad a film. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I saw a photo today in the NY Daily News from 12/1 and she looked emaciated, albeit with a beautiful dress, nice makeup and a nice hair style. Dress it up all you want, she looked very sick. here's a link to the photo, but be forewarned, it's sickening: http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/galleries/brittany_murphys_life_in_photos/brittany_murphys_life_in_photos.html Quote
7/4 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 I remember her from Clueless, but I never knew what happened to her. Obviously, I don't follow Hollywood that closely. Sad story. . Quote
Big Al Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 The article on imdb.com says she died of "natural causes." How does a 32-year-old die of "natural causes?" Quote
7/4 Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 It's a nice way of saying her heart stopped and there's no brain function. Sorta like how Jack Rose died of "a heart attack" at 38 a few weeks ago, they don't have to explain why. * Quote

It's just a crying shame what hollywood does to people. Women aren't meant to be as thin as the images we too often see in magazines, tv, or movies. And really, who wants to see them this thin??? I imagine the Perez Hilton's of the world, and some aged gossip writers that used to be young and pretty. But not most men, not that I know of at least. Honestly, I would have guessed someone like Lindsay Lohan would end up with a fate like this. She was so pretty, and mature looking around the time of Mean Girls. I thought she was going to become an Ann Margret lookalike. Now,4-5 years later at the ripe old age of 23, she looks "Old" absolutely terrible. Very Thin, unhealthy skin. Doesn't even seem like the same person. What happened??? She put on 5 pounds at one point and people told her she was getting fat??? Someone like Nikki Cox, who should have been the envy of most women, has all but ruined her face. Google Nikki Cox, and fish lips to see what looks like photoshopped images of her. Hollywood will obviously always be about the looks of the performers, but it would be nice if someone could have a "normal" figure, and normal face, and still be a star. People like Bette Davis and Meryl Streep were allowed to, but I guess those days are gone for good. Edited December 22, 2009 by BERIGAN Quote

Something very similar happened to a friend of the family. She was getting remarried and was dropping weight like crazy (to the point where she became unattractively thin) and then she had some blood sugar problem (leukocytes?) and went into cardiac arrest. She was about 36. If Britney Murphy was indeed anorexic, then catching any kind of illness could definitely push her over the edge. So sad. RIP Edited December 22, 2009 by ejp626 Quote
sonnymax Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 (edited) Man, that is sickening! It's just a crying shame what hollywood does to people. Kind of an ironic statement to make, seeing that you started this thread pointing out that Murphy was "not a classic beauty" and "used to be a bit chunky." Is it Hollywood that overemphasizes a woman's physical appearance over what's in her heart and her mind, or is Hollywood just giving us what we want? Edited December 22, 2009 by sonnymax Quote
