Adam Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Here's a link to a longer ten-minute version on You Tube, just sent to me by another friend. One of the more astonishing medleys I've ever heard or seen. There are edits evident in this version as well. http://www.youtube.c...h?v=RwhDe56O9f8 There are just too many things worthy of comment. At 8:50 when "Fables of Faubus" kicks in, are those Japanese translated Mingus lyrics, or entirely new lyrics? What's with the flower-egg? Etc. Edited December 16, 2009 by Adam Quote
kinuta Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 (edited) Where to begin. Every lunch time on Japanese tv is an extremely long running comedy/interview/variety show called ' Waratte Ii Tomo ' roughly translated as 'It's cool to laugh'. The compere of this and one of the most famous faces on tv here is Tamori. He's also a jazz fan and the clips posted here are a comedy troupe led by Tamori doing their versions of bebop vocalese classics. The lyrics are not translations of the original lyrics but free rolling ,nonsense like words to fit the actions of the skits. Fables Of Faubus just features the guy saying that he's in trouble and would you please buy his wares. Now this clip might be of interest, which is putting it mildly. Tamori interviews Miles Davis, seriously ! Have fun - http://wellness.green55.net/modules/xootube/user.php?uname=M0TIVA&id=kjLQrV7Zy3E&feature=youtube_gdata Edited December 17, 2009 by kinuta Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 I posted this a few days ago in the Youtube thread. I am now officially finished with jazz after watching this. I have ended my journey. Quote
