Hi everyone,

it's been a bit quiet since our big announcement in October, but thankfully

the long wait is now over - the Relocator debut album is done and it's OUT!

We won't have the physical CDs in our hands for another two weeks or so,

but if you want to hear the album now, you don't have to wait until then!

We are now offering high-quality mp3s of the full album (complemented by

the CD booklet in PDF format so you're not missing out on the liner notes).

We have also started taking CD pre-orders and the cool thing is: If you

pre-order the CD, you can download the mp3s and start listening right away!

The album is now available here:

http://www.relocator-project.com

Here's the cover and the tracklisting:

You can listen to two full tracks on our MySpace page:

http://www.myspace.com/relocatorproject

We will upload a new track every day until the end

of the week, so keep checking back and listening. :)

Note: We had to split one song into two parts due to the MySpace limits.

On the album it is of course presented as one track without interruption.

You can order our album and read a bit more about us here:

http://www.relocator-project.com

Let me answer some frequently asked questions about the album right away:

Q: Does Derek Sherinian really play on this album?

A: Yes.

Q: But it's probably just a guest solo or something, right?

A: No, Derek recorded all the keyboard parts for all eight tracks.

Q: Is there violin on all tracks?

A: No, only three of the eight tracks feature our violinist.

Q: When do the vocals start?

A: Never. It's an all-instrumental album!

Q: How much is shipping to my country?

A: Shipping is included in the flat-rate CD price of 15 Euro.

Q: I hate the RIAA. Can I still buy your CD?

A: Yes. This is a 100% independent production and every penny made goes directly to the artists!

Q: I hate PayPal. Can I order your CD somewhere else?

A: Not at the moment, but this will change once we get the CDs from the pressing plant.

Q: When will my CD ship?

A: We expect to start shipping CDs around Christmas. Keep checking our website for updates!

Q: I just ordered the CD/mp3s. How can I download the mp3s?

A: You will get an e-mail with a download link. It might take a while before it is sent.

Q: The MySpace audio quality sucks. Can I download a full track in decent quality somewhere?

A: It's not Christmas yet! Please be patient. :)

Q: I can't find any reviews of your album. Why is that?

A: It's simple: We didn't delay the release for people to prepare their reviews like

record companies usually do. Only very few people have heard it before today.

Q: Your album rocks! Can I review it?

A: Yes, please do that. It would be very helpful.

Q: Your album sucks! Can I review it?

A: No, all negative reviews are embargoed until December 2034. :P

Q: How come I've never heard of you guys before?

A: Duh - it's our debut album! :D

I'll gladly answer any other questions you might have! :)

Thanks for listening!

Short update: It looks like we'll get the CDs on December 30th. Of course we'll ship the pre-orders the same day. :)

Bad news... :(

The final Relocator CDs arrived from the pressing plant today just as scheduled. And yet we can't ship them yet - unfortunately the layout of the CD booklet is totally messed up as you can see in the comparison image below.

bookleterr.jpg

How did this happen? We have no idea at this point. We are still waiting for an explanation from the pressing plant and a solution for this unfortunate situation or some kind of schedule for replacements. At least the CDs themselves seem to be fine...

We are sorry for this delay and we'll keep you updated. Thanks for your patience!

It's a bit hard to believe after all the delays, but our debut CD is finally available -

today the corrected batch arrived and we've already shipped all the pre-orders

as well as the five CDs for those who won our "guess who" competition in 2008! :)

Relocator_CD.jpg

For now the CDs are available only directly via our website:

http://www.relocator-project.com

And our "order the CD, get MP3s right away" offer for the impatient still stands! :D

If you're still on the fence, you can check out the full album on our MySpace page:

Thanks for listening! :)

I'll be placing an order.

Did you ever find out what happened at the printer? I ask because my own little Epson printer has been doing the same thing recently but only with PDFs. It will print fine for hours and then all of a sudden it will start spitting out gobbledyguck that looks just like that. If I print from another source, say Word or the web, it's fine, but PDFs come out all messed up. A reboot is the only solution.

I wonder if it's an Adobe bug of some kind?

Thanks! It's so cool to have some of my favorite musicians interested in our music!

The problem was that someone at the printing plant for some reason had to

export the PDFs we had prepared exactly to their specification one more time

before actually printing them and somehow the correct fonts got lost in the

process (but nobody noticed that...). How exactly that leads to such totally

random text I don't quite know, but that's supposedly all there was to it.

So I can't really help you there - in our case it wasn't an Adobe error. But it

sounds very weird that your printer would do fine for a while BEFORE messing up.

Hey guys,

my "help us promote our album" thread sank like a stone here, but it seems like it was the right idea anyway! I just did this nice interview with Drop-d magazine from Ireland, check it out! :)

http://www.drop-d.ie/archives/9845

And for those who speak French, here's another recent one with Stefan on Progressive Area:

Thanks to Jonathan Keane and Declan!

Btw, did I mention our album has made it to Japan? Marquee Inc. picked it up and is now selling it through their World Disque Web store. Yay! Not bad for a 100% independent production, eh?

Hey everyone,

now that they finally have a decent number of discs in stock I'd like to point out that, as a promotional move to go along with this interview...

http://guitar9.com/interview154.html

... Guitar Nine Records are currently offering our CD for the low price of just $13 (including shipping within the US!).

http://www.guitar9.com/relocator.html

This is a limited time offer, so if you're on the fence about this album or know someone who is, now would be a good time to pull the trigger. :)

Album review from Prog Magazine, Sept 2010 issue (apologies for any typos I may have made!):

"Relocator - self released

Anything featuring former Dream Theater keyboardist Derek Sherinian is bound to pique the interest of a prog fan, and German quartet Relocator have got that. This debut has been five years in the making and even though Sherinian is making a guest appearance on this record, his influence is clear and constant.

While opening track "Red Vibes" rocks hard then widdles away mysteriously and eloquently, "Biosphere" gets even heavier before relapsing into jazzier overtones and "Proxima" takes time before building into some amazing solos. Naming a song "Relocator" as well as your band and your album might seem like overkill but the song actually serves to be the finest example of what the band is about. Some quite fantastic old school, rocking guitar solos merge with some fine, uplifting symphonies with some equally inspired jams sliding themselves into the mix. At times it's mesmerisingly complex and at others, they simply lay down some heavy simplicity. The juxtaposition is brilliantly worked.

Dream Theater fans will, of course, find comfort in new material from Sherinian's masterful keyboard wizardry but if instrumental prog metal tickles your pickle at all then this effort from Relocator really is worth searching out."

Very cool! Thanks for this, Aggie! I need to track down this magazine...

Btw, I hear they'll be doing a full page on us in the upcoming issue, very cool to get so much coverage by one of the biggest prog magazines in the world! :)

Hey everyone,

here's our new press release. These are exciting times for us, moving from a studio project to a live band that's bigger than Relocator has ever been. Check out the video of our live keyboardist Sergej, I'm sure you'll be impressed! I could watch his take on the epic Aavishkar solo all day! :)

Anyway, here goes:

Relocator announce live replacement for Derek Sherinian

New sextet lineup to headline “Generation Prog” mini-festival

January 15, 2010

One year after the release of their internationally celebrated debut album, Relocator are finally ready to hit the stage. For their headlining performance at the first “Generation Prog live” event in Erlangen, the fusion proggers have assembled an international sextet lineup. The core group featured on the studio album stays intact: Project founders Stefan Artwin (guitar) and Michael Schetter (born Pruchnicki, bass) with Bartek Strycharski (electric violin) plus Frank Tinge from the Netherlands (drums). Joining them is another Dutchman, multi-instrumentalist Meinte Boersma (guitar, percussion), enabling the live band to do the dense arrangements of the album justice.

Newcomer Sergej Schamber takes the place of CD guest star Derek Sherinian

Relocator-Sergej-Schamber-keys.jpg

The addition of Sergej Schamber (Ocean Spout) to the live band finally answers an often posed question: “How are they going to play this stuff live without Derek Sherinian?”. The former Dream Theater keyboardist had recorded all the keyboard tracks for the Relocator debut as a special guest star, enabling the project members to wrap up the recording of the album without adding a full-time keyboardist. “Sherinian's ivory work across Relocator provides a mass of musical might”, wrote Ytsejam.com reviewer Tommy Hash. After the release of the album, Relocator finally found the perfect keyboardist to join them for live gigs. Sergej Schamber's ability to tackle the complex Relocator material and Derek Sherinian's stylish, virtuosic lead work is demonstrated in this video:

"Generation Prog live”: An evening of prog on an international level in Erlangen

gen_prog_live_01_flyer.jpg

The first concert in the “Generation Prog” series will feature Relocator alongside ProgRock Records artist Dante and newcomers Effloresce, who will be previewing material from the upcoming full-length followup to their 2009 debut EP Shades of Fate. This mini-festival will take place at the Omega in Erlangen, Germany, on February 11, 2011. To learn more about the performing artists or to pre-order tickets please visit the official Generation Prog website (German only):

We have now also added photos and some biographical info on Sergej and Meinte to our website:
