Highly recommended: Michael Dessen's recordings

Trombonist Michael Dessen has two recordings as the leader:

(1) Lineal - (Circumvention) - a trio/quartet date with Vijay Iyer, Mark Dresser, Susie Ibarra, Jorge Roeder, Bob Weiner, & Terry Jenoure

(2) Between Shadow and Space (Clean Feed) -- a trio recording with Christopher Tordini, & Tyshawn Sorey.

Both are fantastic recordings with the trio pieces just as good as, though very different from, those by BassDrumBone. These are really amazingly exciting and elegant recordings.

Yeah--I have both of those, & they're terrific. The second one is unusual in that it makes use of electronics on most of the tracks, & very effectively. It's like a combination of M-Base-style metric funk plus abstract sound-morphing (I particularly like the swarming cloud of sound on the tribute to Alice Coltrane).
