Jazzmoose Posted December 26, 2009 Report Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) The concensus was that she was well aware of his activities prior to their marriage but that she thought she could reel him in. This will be the most sexist post I ever write (I hope), but women can be idiots when it comes to this. Maybe it's my bitterness about my own failed relationships, but I think there's a lot of truth to the canard that women marry men assuming the men will change, and men marry women assuming the women won't change, and both parties are usually wrong. Dan Gould Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 That was the weirdest public statement from a disgraced public hero I've ever watched. Someone ought to have told Tiger "treat your family, friends and business associates like they are your family, friends and business associates. You apologize to them one-on-one and in private. Deal with the public in a public way. Deal with your friends in a private way. If you aren't ready to answer questions, don't say anything in public." I mean really, WTF was that?
bertrand Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Who gives a fuck when there were people killed or injured by a domestic terrorist yesterday? The media need to get their priorities straight. Bertrand.
Man with the Golden Arm Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 weird - esp the comment that he: won't play at Augusta until they replace the sand-trap rakes with hoes.
Dan Gould Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Who gives a fuck when there were people killed or injured by a domestic terrorist yesterday? The media need to get their priorities straight. Bertrand. You need to get your facts straight.
Christiern Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Bertrand, those righties see only one kind of terrorist.
clifford_thornton Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Veronica Siwik-Daniels, one of Woods’ alleged mistresses and a former porn actress, watched the event with her attorney in a Los Angeles radio studio. She said she wants an apology for the unwanted attention the scandal has brought her. “I really feel I deserve to look at him in person face to face in the eyes because I did not deserve this,” she said.
Dan Gould Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 If you are saying he was some sort of right wing terrorist (as opposed to just a fucked up loser who blamed the IRS for his problems) how do you explain his complaints about the health care system, his attacking Bush as a "puppet" or his sign off (which, in fascinating bit of white-washing, managed to get dropped from many left-wing blogs and media outlets): The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need. The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.
Dan Gould Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 Tiger Woods Announces Return to Sex PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL—In an announcement highly anticipated by sex fans around the world, Tiger Woods told a small gathering of reporters, family, and lovers Friday that the most dominant fornicator on the planet would soon return to sex. "Not being able to get out there and have sex has really been tough on me," Woods said. "I've missed it. I love fucking with all my heart." Woods said that during his brief time away from sex, he couldn't stop thinking about one day resuming his daily regimen of sexual intercourse with random women who look vaguely like his wife, only skankier.

Just for your information, I will help you figure out who this character is Once again, it's in the name of informing you better.
clifford_thornton Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 I mean, I don't care what she looks like (gross), it just seems surprising that she doesn't want "attention." Or maybe she has a problem with it being from outside of her industry.
Dan Gould Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 And who was right there by the wronged-skanks side? The equally lovely and shameless (one of those adjectives is inaccurate) Gloria Allred.

papsrus Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 (edited) I give the guy credit for at least standing up, admitting he screwed up, and is trying to do the right thing. Yeah, he brought on the whole mess himself, but anyone who thinks he's the only pro golfer (pro athlete, period ... heck, highly successful person, period) who believes that the normal rules don't apply to them is kidding themselves. The NBA is notorious for this kind of behavior, and folks still revere Jordan -- who chose to get a divorce. There isn't a name in professional sports that I'd be surprised if it was revealed they were doing the exact same thing as Woods. Difference is, most people don't choose to try to atone for their mistakes, particularly in such a public way. Woods at least seems to be. That said, this wall-to-wall coverage on espn, with body-language experts and apology experts and polls and on and on, is just ridiculous. Edited February 19, 2010 by papsrus
Dave James Posted February 19, 2010 Author Report Posted February 19, 2010 I would be stunned if Woods missed a major championship. Let's put this in perspective. What's more important, saving your marriage and treating an addiction that you wouldn't even have addressed if you hadn't gotten caught in the cookie jar or whittling down the difference between the numbers 18 and 14. The Masters, with its snooty, access denied environment is the perfect setting for a return to the tour. Tiger is nothing if he's not a control freak and nowhere in the world of golf is there a more controlled environment than that of Augusta National.
bertrand Posted February 19, 2010 Report Posted February 19, 2010 What was wrong about what I wrote? There was some coverage about the Austin thing, of course, but it was dwarfed by the Tiger crap. We still don't know who was the other victim in the crash, other than the a-hole who flew the plane. Bertrand.
Dave James Posted February 20, 2010 Author Report Posted February 20, 2010 Bertrand, I don't think there's anything wrong with what you wrote. It's a question of context. Why bring up the Austin debacle up in the middle of a thread devoted to Tiger Woods? No one disagrees that what this guy did was heinous in every sense of the word, but anyone who thinks that the coverage of this event will supersede the coverage of Woods' extramarital peccadilloes has probably missed the boat. I'm not saying that this is right or that it doesn't lack perspective, just that it is what it is.

We still don't know who was the other victim in the crash, other than the a-hole who flew the plane. Bertrand. I don't know - the fact that there was wall-to-wall coverage of the events in Austin yesterday, when it was actually news but not much to report today. Or maybe the fact that no official - local/state/federal - is calling this an act of terrorism?
Noj Posted February 20, 2010 Report Posted February 20, 2010 I feel like Tiger has apologized way more than necessary, and in my opinion he doesn't owe the public anything. The media and everybody watching should keep their noses out of his business and move on. I could stomach about five minutes of this crap on the TV before I was repulsed, particularly by anyone who saw fit to say Tiger "wasn't sincere enough" or pretending to have some sort of insight into what Tiger means and what he doesn't mean or how much emotion he ought to show. People make me sick, twittering shit about this guy like they've got any place making any comments. Why the media has seen fit to feel involved with or have any right to know about the personal business of celebrities is beyond me. Get a life.

That last line is so very true, and IMHO, the most interesting thing about the whole situation. And I am still not very interested.

Shrdlu Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Not Tiger's only accident, from what I hear. Watch all the advertising homophobes drop him, because the g-word came up.
king ubu Posted March 1, 2010 Report Posted March 1, 2010 Each time this thread pops up I think: "again!?" Don't the US have more important issues to think of than this chap? The funny thing about sports is that in some kinds of (soccer, hockey...) it's part of your image to have lots of affairs (and have ones with your best buddy's bird, too - unless you're captain of the UK team, then that's not a smart thing to do), but golf is oh so elitist clean and everyone has a perfect white shirt, of course of course... - effing hypocrites all over!
