mikelz777 Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 33/38 I missed the ones I've never heard or don't listen to, Joe Pass, Mahavishnu Orch, Return To Forever, Stanley Clarke, Tony Williams. Quote
Shrdlu Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Dead easy, apart from three obscure ones. Quote
Noj Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 What was weird about the test is it had some auto-fill thing going on. For some it just filled in the answer before I'd finished typing. Like when I started typing "Wes M..." it went ahead and filled in Montgomery. Convenient. But when I went to type Coleman Hawkins it filled in Ornette Coleman before I'd even read those albums to make the determination. Quote
poetrylover3 Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 38/38. It would have been more challenging if they'd included more artists who came to prominence in the 80s or later. Quote
BruceH Posted November 29, 2009 Report Posted November 29, 2009 I didn't get the 70's artists either, but now I feel better about it. Quote
Johnny E Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I got every one except Billy Cobham and Michael Brecker. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 I missed all the 70s fusion stuff, not surprisingly. Quote
EKE BBB Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 35/38 Missed Stanley Clarke, Billy Cobham and Michael Brecker. Quote
Joe Bip Posted November 30, 2009 Report Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) I'm not too familiar with the discographies of Stanley Clarke, Michael Brecker, or Return to Forever, and missed those. I almost guessed Return to Forever but I'd already filled in Chick Corea and couldn't believe that Return to Forever would also be included, especially with so many important artists missing. Clarke and Cobham also overlap with groups included. A more challenging and representative test might have included albums by Armstrong, George Lewis, etc. and a couple of free jazz pioneers of the generation after Ornette -- just my two cents.
