medjuck Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 Hey they've now added the Cannonball Adderly Quintet as well as The Jazztet from 1960! Quote
Dan Gould Posted January 14, 2011 Report Posted January 14, 2011 I'm almost certain the Jazztet show floats around in trader circles, and in very good sound, too. But then again, compressed radio might not sound as good as the soundboard. I don't think I've seen the Cannonball show pop up, however. Might have to spring for that FLAC download. Quote

medjuck Posted April 1, 2011 Report Posted April 1, 2011 (edited) RRK at Fillmore East 1971 I'm sure that will be of interest to some people. Also Bill Evans at Great American Music Hall. However lots of complaints about sound on RRK at Fillmore. Edited April 1, 2011 by medjuck Quote
Justin V Posted April 2, 2011 Report Posted April 2, 2011 Listening to the Max Roach set. I need some more Clifford Jordan in my life. Quote

Dan Gould Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 Mark beat me to it - I suspect there will definitely be some interest in both of these sets. Quote

bertrand Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 There's an allegedly unknown tune in the Roach set which I believe is 'It's Time'. If someone can confirm, I will then shoot them an e-mail. Bertrand. Quote
JSngry Posted July 8, 2011 Report Posted July 8, 2011 it takes literally about 3 seconds, and you'll know that it is. Quote
medjuck Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 So I'm waiting for the Pee Wee Russell with Buck Clayton and Prez from the 1958 Festival. I check every week. (seriously). Quote
Swinging Swede Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 They have not released anything from the 1958 festival so far. I wonder if they have it. Quote

bertrand Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) I must not have been clear. I listened to it and I knew right away that it was 'It's Time'. I wanted independent confirmation that it was the composition in question so I don't look like an idiot when I e-mail them. I didn't say 'I heard a rumor that it was 'It's Time', I said that I believe it is 'It's Time'. Wasn't it obvious that it meant I listened to it? Jeez, get a grip. Bertrand. Nobody looks like an idiot when they tell the truth. Well, sometimes they do, but that's not their fault...world gone wrong, etc. But ok, consider it independently confirmed. Quote

BFrank Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 ... and the 2 extended tunes are great. Cowell's "Effi" and Merritt's "Nommo" which is a highlight of Lee Morgan's "Lighthouse" tour de force. Quote
bertrand Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 (edited) Thanks, Jim, I will send them an e-mail. And I will buy the whole concert this w/e. Bertrand. PS Tried to send you a PM, but your box is full. Just to make sure you know that it was not you I was annoyed at. Edited July 9, 2011 by bertrand Quote
JSngry Posted July 9, 2011 Report Posted July 9, 2011 Hey, even if it was, I've been married for 28 years and have raised two now-adult kids. At this point, having people be annoyed at me is kinda like Brer' Rabbit & the briar patch, ya' know? Quote
Dan Gould Posted February 3, 2012 Report Posted February 3, 2012 (edited) Finally Wolfgang's has reached back into the vaults instead of all of these 70s performances in non-Newport settings. From 1965: Johnny Coles and George Coleman with Toshiko, Joe Chambers and Gene Taylor! Does this mean we'll get more from 1965 sometime soon? Some pretty interesting possibilities here. How about the Bartz/Gilmore/Morgan edition of the Messengers? Edited February 3, 2012 by Dan Gould Quote
