mjazzg Posted December 23, 2011 Report Posted December 23, 2011 anyone have thoughts about the Karl & Ingrid Berger Horo? I'm intrigued but can't find it in blogland Quote
Swinger Posted January 8, 2012 Report Posted January 8, 2012 I can't help it but Horo is a slang word in Finnish meaning whore, bitch Quote
mjzee Posted January 19, 2012 Report Posted January 19, 2012 For those so inclined, some of the (fake) Horos are now available for download on eMusic. I saw Lee Konitz/Martial Solal, Archie Shepp, one of the Sun Ras. Quote

Chalupa Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 Check out his FB page. There is a post from today(you have to be signed into FB to read it) that says,"As soon as possible, the Horus Records Massimo Urbani, dedicate great jazz musician, the space it deserves. ..!!!" Quote

I saw Lee Konitz/Martial Solal, Archie Shepp, one of the Sun Ras. To clarify, there still is only ONE "Sun Ra" (fake) Horo that's been issued on CD, correct?? I have it (the fake "New Steps" quartet CD), but I really wished they'd also issued (even if fake) the "Other Voices, Other Blues" quartet release. I have "Other Voices..." on LP (maybe the rarest LP I own!), but would love to have it on CD. Quote
John L Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 The fake Horos turned out to be the real ones. Quote

The complete list of (fake) Horos available on US eMusic can be found here. Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 That's what I was afriad of. I do like "New Steps" - but IMHO, "Other Voices, Other Blues" is even better (if similar, with the same quartet line-up). Quote
king ubu Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 That website hurts the eyes... what does that all mean (including John L's post)? That the Horo reissues aren't boots ("fake")? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted February 23, 2012 Report Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) That website hurts the eyes... what does that all mean (including John L's post)? That the Horo reissues aren't boots ("fake")? I was wondering the same thing. They do have halfway decent liner-notes, so I accept that they might not be boots, but everything I've read here seems to indicate that they're of dubious origin. John L Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 That website hurts the eyes... what does that all mean (including John L's post)? That the Horo reissues aren't boots ("fake")? I meant my comment to be sort of a pun. They are the real ones in that they are the only ones that actually exist on CD. Sadly, that is probably because they destroyed the already weak market for the planned legit releases. But that is the reality of the market these days. Quote
king ubu Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 That's what I thought - but I still don't get Mr. Deeley's posts... Quote
Chalupa Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 Not sure what you're not getting. I find this whole Horo re-issue thing has turned into a spectacle. Don't you think that's it's very curious that there is a website, from all appearances, run by Aldo Sinesio that has Horo LP's for sale?? Also, I'm wondering if the Facebook page which I linked is genuine or fake. I mean, if both of those links are legit that would be good news, no? And if they are fake, why is someone spending all of this time/energy/money in keeping this ruse running?? Quote
king ubu Posted February 24, 2012 Report Posted February 24, 2012 I thought you might somehow have any new knowledge (or maybe even knowledge that the boot-CDs are in fact legit). A spectacle, for sure... but the site - guess I got to try another browser, only a third or so of what I assumed to be links did work for me. Quote

paul secor Posted February 29, 2012 Report Posted February 29, 2012 It's probably been mentioned before, but perhaps reissuing some of the Horo catalog on CD might be a possibility for Jonathan Horwich (JLH on Organissimo) of International Phonograph, Inc. Quote

I wonder if this is the start of a new series of releases...or not? Look at the "source"......if they would reissue a series, this would become more "traceable" abd therefore the question of legitimity could pop up faster....with a "limited series of 300" the issuer in question is on the "safer" side anyway...just my 5 cent worth... Head Man Posted September 12, 2013 Report Posted September 12, 2013 Bump..... Does anyone have any news on whether there are going to be any further releases from the Horo catalogue? ...just asking..... Quote
