Royal Oak Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 From the former Jamie Cullum bassist. No idea what the music is like but had to smile at the cover. I like it, though he should really be wearing some kind of swimsuit! I still see loads of those albums in charity shops. Quote

BruceH Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Wait, Woolworth's was in the UK? Huh? You're blowin' my mind! Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 Wait, Woolworth's was in the UK? Huh? You're blowin' my mind! A veritable institution (which went bust last year leaving a major building vacant on nearly every small town high street...the one in my town is still unoccupied)! In fact we're surprised that it exists in the US. I was doing a lesson on the Lunch-counter Sit-ins a few days ago and my 16-17 year olds were amazed to see a photo of Woolworths in the USA. How little we know of one another. Quote

GA Russell Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Hoppy, the company didn't go bust. They just decided to close their five-and-dimes, and concentrate on their Foot Locker and Kinney's Shoes stores. Quote
