colinmce Posted October 27, 2009 Author Report Posted October 27, 2009 Interestingly enough, Jacknife is by far the most expensive item with the cheapest going for almost 70 bucks. Quote
Quincy Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Fuchsia Swing Song is supposedly available at Deepdiscount for $11.97. Not sure if it's one of those deals where they say they have it & they don't though. Quote
djcavanagh Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 A vendor seems to have a new copy of Jacknife for £17.99 on amazon.co.uk and I'd guess that they actually have the copy for sale. International shipping is available. Quote
king ubu Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 I thought I'd seen "Jacknife" in the on-going EMI sales over here... but I might have been mixing it up with another Mac... never got those as I have the 64-66 Mosaic box. Some of his finest albums in there! Quote
mikeweil Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 The only ones from this list that I still don't have and considered to get are: Jazz Crusaders – Lighthouse / ’66 / ’68 Stanley Turrentine – Up At Minton’s I once listened to the Jazz Crusaders in a record shop, but they didn't thrill me that much - what do you think? The Magnificent Goldberg Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 The only ones from this list that I still don't have and considered to get are: Jazz Crusaders – Lighthouse / ’66 / ’68 Stanley Turrentine – Up At Minton’s I once listened to the Jazz Crusaders in a record shop, but they didn't thrill me that much - what do you think? Those Lighthouse Crusaders albums are my favourites of them - by a long way. The Minton's set is among my least favourite albums of Stanley (and Grant Green). MG Quote
king ubu Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Yes, the Crusaders are good! I have the three live albums and the Chile one (I think another live album failed to appear on CD before EMI folded up its jazz department?). The live material is all good! I think the Turrentine is fine, but it was among my first 15 or 20 jazz purchases, so I may not be objective... Quote
RDK Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 Good list! I'll have to keep it with me while shopping as I occasionally come across some of the "rarer" ones. Quote
Royal Oak Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 A number of Leo Parkers available on Amazon.co.uk for around $8.00. Quote
