king ubu Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 sorry my scan turned out so bad... I couldn't upload it in better quality and only just noticed it's unreadable... 1. Ella Fitzgerald - Squeeze Me (Lou Levy, René Goldstein, J.C. Heard. July 8, 9, or 13, 1958) 2. Donald Byrd - When Your Lover Has Gone (Walter Davis, Doug Watkins, Art Taylor. July 11, 1958) 3. Sacha Distel - All for You (Martial Solal, Pierre Michelot, Kenny Clarke. July 12, 1958) 4. Christian Chevallier - Dream Time (Fernand Verstraete-t, Georges Barboteux-cor, William Boucaya, Hubert Rostaing, Armand Miginani, Jo Hrasko-sax, Pierre Cullaz-g, Michelot-b, Christian Garros-d. July 12, 1958) 5. Martial Solal - Special Club (Michelot, Clarke. July 12, 1958) 6. Stan Getz - East of the Sun (Solal, Michelot, Clarke. July 12, 1958) the disc clocks in at 23 or 24 minutes, so all titles are between 2:40 and 5 minutes. Quote
brownie Posted December 4, 2009 Author Report Posted December 4, 2009 Just too bad there's no Jaspar (with Byrd) or Wilen (with Distel) on that bonus CD. Getting this anyway! Quote
king ubu Posted December 4, 2009 Report Posted December 4, 2009 Yes, that's what I thought seeing the line-up for the Byrd track! Quote
kh1958 Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 It took over a month to arrive, but finally it did and I'm very much enjoying listening to this set--thanks very much for the recommendation. Quote
sidewinder Posted December 12, 2009 Report Posted December 12, 2009 (edited) The new edition of French "Jazz Magazine/Jazzman" (they merged a few months ago) has a disc with a few unreleased tracks! ha, since posts created within a short time are merged into one post, both attachments (more than 100KB) are in one post now! funny! Damn - I think I saw that mag in one of the shop racks on my visit recently but did not see the CD, otherwise I would have bought one. Too busy looking at the beauties on the next shelf.. Very impressed with the fact that jazz mags are readily accessible in French shops, even very modest outlets. Over here it's 'Jazzwise' only, if you are lucky..
