No, "lee morgan" was the cat's wife's name...like Lee Meriwether

Wait, Lee Meriwether played bass with Bill Evans on a gig at the Jazz Record Mart?

Exactly. With Barrett Deems on drums.

No, no, no - Roy Meriwether was married to Lee Meriwether, and Bill Evans played their wedding reception, which was held at the JRM. Barrett Deems was nowhere to be seen, at least not that day.

Bonnie Wetzel?

Bonnie Wetzel?

Very good guess, but I don't know what she looks like. Chris A. posted a link to a picture of Wetzel and drummer Elaine Leighton a few years ago, on a thread about Leighton, but the link no longer is there. Perhaps Chris could post it again.

BTW, I'm no longer clear about what the issue is here. That is, we've now seen the photo with Haig and the female bassist (who really seems to be into it, no?) Is that the photo that the person who started this thread was thinking of, and thus there is no evidence of a photo of Evans with an as yet unidentified female bassist? Or is there this Haig photo and a similar Evans photo?

Found a part of the picture on the net...

Maybe the picture was indeed mislabeled in my book...

It's used as a cover for an album by AL HAIG, Piano Interpretations...Though he doesn't look like a young Haig to me either...

The female basist isn't visableon the cover... <_<

Indeed, maybe I should replace Evans name with that of Haig in the title of this topic?

I thought it might be Vivien Garry, but I guess not. . . . .(?)

I don't know. . . could it be Vivien some years later? Eyes, nose, arms, fingers look possible.

Yeah maybe it's Garry

But to me Garry looks a little bit more, excusez le mot, voluptuous than the bassplayer on the Haig pic.

Bonnie Wetzel?

Bonnie Wetzel?

One of the two dames behind Beryl Booker is Bonnie Wetzel. None of them look like the bassplayer on the Haig picture, to me. The Beryl Booker picture is from the mid fifties, the same period as the Haig picture.

Well, that's really hard to tell from that picture, especially with the placement of the "tag". . . .

I saw that picture too, but not a confirmation as to the identity of anybody. Did I miss something?
