mjazzg Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Just wondering if anyone knows anymore about this book featured in today's Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2009/oct/0...zz-album-covers http://www.soundsoftheuniverse.com/releases/?id=17111# Looks like a compilation of album sleeves and artwork from the 60s/70s. Apparently due for publication later this month. I'm thinking that thia could be a very insightful analysis of an exciting part of Jazz history or it could be just another coffee-table arefact that merits the occasional glance. I'd be interested to hear from anyone with an advance copy Quote
clifford_thornton Posted October 5, 2009 Report Posted October 5, 2009 Knowing Gilles' tastes, it will be interesting with a lot of very scarce cover images. Whether the writing will be any good... Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 They contacted me late last year for permission to use 3 of our covers. I have not seen the book yet but copy in on the way. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 Saw a copy in London earlier this week. You get a mention in the front credits I think. It's a pretty big tome - mainly illustrations, not too much writing. Nice to see the 'Cosmic Music' original in there. They contacted me late last year for permission to use 3 of our covers. I have not seen the book yet but copy in on the way. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted October 27, 2009 Report Posted October 27, 2009 UPS delivered my book about an hour ago. From a quick scan I can say fans of this period will not be disappointed. It made me wish I still had a bunch of those lps. This is a large hardback book and weighs a bunch. Perfect for any coffee table in any living room. Well done. Quote
jazzkrow Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Amazon.com has a good price on this book now (beats Dusty Groove's price) Available at around $27 including shipping for this large book. Quote
sidewinder Posted October 28, 2009 Report Posted October 28, 2009 Picked up a copy in London this week for £15. HMV had the best price. Quote
