JSngry Posted November 23, 2003 Report Posted November 23, 2003 (edited) Tell you what - this stuff is funny. Not the source material, the voiceovers. Often enough in questionable taste, but the jokes come in such a steady barrage that before you got time to get P.O.'ed you're busting a gut. There's some irrefutable brightness at work here. Highly recommended, if perhaps some times in small doses. Edited November 23, 2003 by JSngry Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Shoot, I thought this was about racing those little motorcycles on those dirt tracks with the hills and stuff... Quote
Spontooneous Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 'Nother fan here. Would love to be a fly on the wall in the writers' room. Quote
pryan Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 I'll confess to not knowing a thing about MXC, although I'm assuming it's a TV show of some sort, no? My TV watching is extremely limited. What channel is this on? Quote
Chrome Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Yet another fan here ... and, yeah, the writing is hilarious, but I'd love to know what the real lowdown behind the original show is. Does anyone know anything about the source show? What are those people competing for? It looks like it would be Law Suit City if it were an American show. Pryan: MXC is Most Extreme Challenge Elimination and it's on Spike. They take some kind of nutty Japanese game show that has people doing cheesy yet dangerous obstacle-course kind of stunts. Then, someone dubs the entire show in English a la "What's Up Tiger Lily?" It has to be seen/heard to be believed. Quote

pryan Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 Thanks for the description, Chrome. Unfortunately we don't receive the Spike channel up here. Maybe another station is picking it up in Canada, I'll have to check the local listings. Sounds like a pretty hilarious show. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 24, 2003 Report Posted November 24, 2003 I LOVE Extreme Elimination Challenge!!! I watch it so much that my son now says, "Oof!" when someone eats it. Quote
JSngry Posted November 24, 2003 Author Report Posted November 24, 2003 Hm, "Takeshi's Castle" comes to mind. According to MXC's closing credits, that is the source of the source (a source is a source of course of course, etc...) footage. Quote
JSngry Posted November 24, 2003 Author Report Posted November 24, 2003 The dubbed in words of each contestant as they embark on their challenge are often Firesign-esque in their surrealism. Is Spike not widely available? It's the old new TNN. Quote
