(And I'm assuming you mean commercially-issued recordings, because you never know what will turn up on someone's tape...) Quote
blajay Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 (edited) Yo Vic, I'm really happy for you, and I'mma let you finish, but Gokudo is the best record collector of all time! OF ALL TIME! Edited September 22, 2009 by zanonesdelpueblo Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 Congratulations, Vic! Glad I did my part, I was trying to keep an eye out for the DeFranco's that didn't get included in the Mosaic but now I know I can call off the search. Quote
WorldB3 Posted September 23, 2009 Report Posted September 23, 2009 I would love to see the list, might be some gems I need to get that I don't know about. Quote

In Europe (No Label No Number) recorded in Europe January-February 1954. Vic Quote

JohnS Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 Well done Victor, definitely a worthwhile endeavour. Quote

Understandable , given that these tracks are likely part of a Voice Of America transcription disc of a concert performance in Europe (possibly Germany) . Quote

I have the date as January 5, and Köln (Cologne, Germany) as location. Wright and White are only "probables" there... at least so say my files... nothing certain there, really, but I guess the compended "knowledge" of collectors is more reliable than the (useful though) crappy jazzdisco.org site. Weren't these on 'dime' a while ago? (or am I thinking of some other DeFranco material?) Quote
king ubu Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 I think that's where I got them from... Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 So I trust someone is taking care of this for Vic? I'd do it but I haven't been checking out Dime very often for at least the last year. Quote
Dan Gould Posted September 24, 2009 Report Posted September 24, 2009 (edited) OMG this is the funniest damn thing. I've had these tracks for quite a few years, ever since I helped Marty by transferring his reels to CDs many moons ago. I'm pretty sure I was the source for the original Dime upload, if it was a compilation titled Buddy DeFranco Mid-50s and sourced as Reel - Goldwave - CDR - FLAC. David in Taiwan seeded a lot of stuff I sent his way, including that one iirc. Vic, I'm sorry I didn't get these to you sooner but I had no idea at the time that you were looking for them or that they had any commercial release. Marty had his recordings as trades, or he captured them on reel off of the radio. Edited September 24, 2009 by Dan Gould Quote
