My wife's grandmother had some curious quirks in the way she spoke. My favorite was how she pronounced "gum". If she was talking about chewing gum, she'd pronounce it normally, like "gum". But if she was talking about her gums (which were often tender due to ill-fitting dentures) she'd say "my gooms". :blink::D I don't know where she got that from.

I noticed something about a word I that use: "probably." I've seen it spelled "prolly" on this board several times. When I use it in a sentence, especially if I'm speaking quickly, I tend to drop even the "L" sound out, resulting in something close to "pra-e-y", with a long 'a' sound. "Yeah, I could proay fit that in today." Weird, man...

Out here in Colorady, where there are, easily, 5 million real estate agents - per square mile, many folks insist on saying REEL-A-TER, rather than REAL-TOR. Drives me insane. Another one that I hear out here is JOOL-ERY rather than JEWEL-RY. Goddam hicks! Look at the word! :blink:
