TedR
I have a number of these sessions too and enjoy all of them. I'm still kicking myself for not getting Katanga (sp?).
David Ayers
Turning back to the 'bad news', I am glad to learn that some of the 'backordered' sets are soon to reappear. It was a shame that the Young/Basie was unavailable for so long, it seems pretty key and a surefire seller. I'll be picking up one or three of these sets the moment they are back. Tom 1960
Although it came as no big surprise, I just received an email confirming a refund on the Pacific Jazz Piano Trios. I guess there's always the "Offering And Looking For" section for those who might wish to part with this set. Fat chance.
Guest Bixieland
Well there's one less Curtis Amy Select in stock. And one less Peggy Lee/June Christy too!
Victor Christensen
You guys are lucky, I have 10 Mosaic sets, but they have become too expensive for me to buy more, with custom, vat and shipping, but the on the other side, I don't play mine much, I really seem to forget my boxsets much. Vic Ah well... the US$ is so cheap these days that even with VAT and post taxes added, Mosaic sets are still cheaper nowadays than they ever were! The cheap $ easily makes up for any taxes, even for the lack of surface shipping option for orders over 100$!

king ubu
ok, seems one order for Shank/Cooper got through... not sure on the status of the other one - for which the following story: I got a mail a day after the final day of the estimated delivery period from said vendor (a big one, I've not had major problems with so far, once they had a "new", well it was [re-]sealed..., disc up and it was very clearly a used one...). So in that mail, they ask me if the package has arrived. No, I reply, but I wouldn't worry, as the delivery period was estimated rather shortish (it had to cross the pond, or should have had to...) A day after I get another mail that a whole shipment of theirs (a post bag they said) was lost, they said it checked out on their end but never checked in anywhere else. They would get a replacement for me... Ok, swell... how will they get a replacement of an OOP item? Yeah, well... Another day later, I get a cancellation note (for the same reason: shipping lost) and refund information for the Pacific Jazz Piano Trios box. The Shank/Cooper order with them is still open, but I guess it's only a question of time until I get a cancellation note and refund as well. So, what's your impression? Is this a fraud, or was there actually a mail bag lost (a container drowned in the ocean with my Selects? a pickpocket at US customs who collects and puts up on ebay OOP Mosaics? A slimy Frenchie who does the same on the other end of the pond?) Or are the speculants among these marketplace sellers? What the fuck do they do with my money in the month or so between I get charged and between their refund? I guess for a select, you could buy about one bullet or something...) Clunky
Well I'm still waiting on my John Patton set from Mosaic, sent " surface" 16/9/09. Not had to wait this long for years. Worryingly the other Selects I got at last gasp arrived within 10 days of ordering. Fingers crossed.

mikeweil
My amazon marketplace order for the Brookmeyer Select was finally cancelled. At least my credit card wasn't charged. Being a marketplace seller myself, I know their policy: First the buyer's bank account or credit card is charged, then the seller is informed and has to confirm shipment - if a seller confirms delivery before he ships he can get into trouble. Seems that amazon in other countries is not as careful ... Edited October 26, 2009 by mikeweil

king ubu
One of my Shank/Coop orders finally came through (fourth or even fifth attempt). The set is waiting for me at Niko's... Bad luck on the Pacific Trios, though. Also, I left the first negative feedback for one of the no-good orders... the vendor sent me an email, asking me, with many kind and complicated phrases, to be so kind to remove that feedback and what they could do in order for me to do so... well, just find me that box, nothing easier, is there? Seriously, I'm kind of pissed by them even daring to ask me to remove that feedback! It took them five days to cancel my order (but they, at least - and contrary to others - didn't charge my credit card). What do you do with such no-good orders? Leave no feedback, leave negative feedback (one out of five stars is actually one too many... and I guess rates as 20%, when instead it should be 0%). I still have one open order for another Shank/Cooper (credit card charged weeks ago - same vendor that cancelled/refunded my Pacific Trios order as the mail bag was lost, see above... somehow they think they can still fill the Shank/Coop order, but I guess they'll just buy some more p0rn before letting me know that another mail bag was drowned in the Atlantic ocean or some such...) I'll certainly leave negative feedback there as well, once I know what's going on!
king ubu
Ok, the vendor with the vanished mail bags kept word... I just got another Shank/Cooper... So I'd have one for trade, in exchange for a Pacific Jazz Piano Trio Select, it seems. Anyone interested? Used condition (I haven't seen it yet, seems to have a few very small scratches, nothing to be worried about).
sidewinder
Hope you get the Pacific Jazz Trios ! There are still some out there - I came out of London's HMV Oxford St last week with the Pacific Jazz Trios, Dexter Gordon and good ol' Freddie Slack. A great day, for sure. :rsmile: and they even had a copy of Baby Face Willette 'Face To Face' for £4 (snagged that too). Dave James
According to the Mosaic website, the Johnny Smith box is supposed to be back in stock by "mid to late October." I did some research yesterday and found that it's getting darn close to the end of October. I'll give these bandits just two more days to produce this set and, after that, I can no longer be held responsible for the consequences. Up over and out. mellowT
I just scored a brand spankin' new Don Pullen Select from ... of all places ... the public library. I placed the order a week after the bad news was announced and was told by a librarian that the library didn't actually own the set but would initiate an order with the manufacturer. They apparently have listings of material that's just waiting for the first customer to come along and request it, then they go spend money and acquire the material. When I heard this I thought, yeah right, fat chance getting that order fulfilled. And this was one of those sets that was already in backorder state when it suddenly went OOP. Well, lo and behold, the "manufacturer" came through. Makes me wonder if Mosaic Records sets aside sets that are reserved for potential library orders. If so, perhaps I'll see my second order, Shank/Cooper, come through too. At least I can get a full taste of it before shelling out $159 on eBay.
