Chuck Nessa Posted August 25, 2009 Report Posted August 25, 2009 It just means they ran out of the cheap, saw-cut versions and still have clean copies in stock. Quote
garthsj Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 (edited) I am not sure if anyone else has posted this information. I received a catalog from Oldies.Com yesterday which has a massive load of Fantasy material, at $4.98 and $5.98 (The Sonny Stiitt 3-CD set "Stitt's Bits" is $4.98!!) ... I guess that Concord is offloading stock. This is a good chance to fill some OJC gaps, and the prices, with the low postage, makes this a little cheaper than used copies from Amazon dealers ... jazzbo Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Hi Garth, this has been a topic of discussion for about a month on this thread: http://www.organissimo.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=39290 Quote
rdavenport Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I just went through the rigmarole of setting up an account, selecting 13 CDs, to be told a $65 order would cost $31 to ship to the UK. Changed my mind, probably for the best. Quote
rdavenport Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I changed my mind back again. My weakness sickens me. Quote
Free For All Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Still not a bad deal, really. Quote
rdavenport Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 I know, works out at 5 quid each, which is still 1/3 as much as I used to pay for OJCs up until about 5 years ago. Quote

TedR Posted September 6, 2009 Report Posted September 6, 2009 Personally I hope they start to run out soon so I'm forced to stop buying. Now I realize I should have ordered a couple of those Helen Humes. Quote

garthsj Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 Where have you been? There's lots of talk about this sale in this thread. I am sorry to have revisited this topic ... Because I am working on a publishing deadline I cannot visit here as often as I used to ... so I do tend to miss things ... and my search skills are not very finely honed ... but my intentions were good (like the road to Hell!). :blush2: Garth. Ken Dryden Posted September 9, 2009 Report Posted September 9, 2009 My third order from Oldies included a few movie DVDs as well. Quote
bertrand Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 2 of the titles in my last order are gone now, for those of you who wanted them: Shirley Scott - Blue Flames Randy Weston - Jazz a la Bohemia Bertrand. Quote
Big Al Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I noticed my credit card had been billed for the last two titles of my order I placed waybackwhen. Quite suprising to me, actually, but I'm glad cuz these are the Peter Leitch discs I really wanted to hear! Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 wait even tho there listed in the cat and on the site you mean some titles are NOT AVAILBLE? or WILL be once oldies.com gets them?!? or wtf? Quote
bertrand Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I just got the oldies paper catalog. One title they list is 'Miles Davis - Highlights From The Unplugged Nickel'. Bertrand. Quote
Ken Dryden Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 My third order arrived today, with some backorders from the first two yesterday. I received a Daedalus catalog today and they seemed to have a few Concord/Fantasy cutouts that I don't remember seeing at Oldies, including the still fairly new Monterey Jazz Festival series, nearly every one except for the Brubeck. Quote
Swinging Swede Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Is the Monterey Jazz Festival series already going out of print?! Geez, I thought those just came out! Quote
Patrick Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 Daedalus is selling most of the Monterey JF titles for $6.98. Artists include Davis, Monk, MJF 50th Anniversary Ensemble (Green, Moody et al), Vaughan, Horn, Tjader, Gillespie, Witherspoon. Among those not included in the sale are two that I still seek: Blakey and the Monterey Jazz Quartet (Dave Holland). Quote
7/4 Posted September 19, 2009 Report Posted September 19, 2009 I ordered eleven titles two days ago, mostly Jim Hall and Pat Martino cds. What's taking them so long - ship 'em already! ... Quote
