A Lark Ascending Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 Sounds like the sort of jazz these chaps would listen to: You have to be a brit of a certain age to get the reference...though all can be relived on YouTube: Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I had to grab my phone and play along... Quote
JSngry Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 That's some funny shit! Where the video game to go with it? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) You know, I could totally see some kids (which is anybody under 30 at this point), discovering this -- kinda getting off on it (somewhat) -- and then checking out the original. Stranger things have happened. Hell, worst case, it might even be better than a few of the less inspired Miles tributes I've heard over the years. Edited August 18, 2009 by Rooster_Ties Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Is Debbie the Bloop from Lost in Space involved? Quote
BeBop Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 There's a group/assemblage known as 8-bit Operators that did send-ups of Kraftwerk songs. THAT's more musically satisfying, IMO. Here, it comes off as leaden. Maybe because Miles and Co. swung. Quote
Jazzmoose Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I thought Kraftwerk already sounded like this... Quote
JSngry Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Somebody please hack Vegas Stakes and put this music in. Please! Quote
Ken Dryden Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 Kind of Blah is more like it... Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) I ADORE Moog albums; I have to find this. I will be first in line on Thursday, Aug. 20, 3 PM EST to plunk down my five bucks. Edited August 18, 2009 by Teasing the Korean Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I was lookin' for someplace to post these around here, and THIS thread is probably as good a place as any... You must see these -- this is NOT optional. Quote
JSngry Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I wanna hear 8-bit Freddie Freeloader here: Quote

CJ Shearn Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I love video games, but that's bad. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I love video games, but that's bad. Moog albums pre-dated the classic video game era by more than ten years. This album is going for the former, not the latter. Quote

This album is going for the former, not the latter. oh yeah, I know . But still, I hate the sound of Miles' solo to the sound of an 8 bit square wave lead. Though I'm a child of the NES era, there were far more technical advances in game music, when I was 11 or 12 through composers like Yuzo Koshiro, Tommy Tallarico, and Nobuo Uematsu. Koshiro's soundtracks for the Sega Genesis series "Streets of Rage" have made for some of the best early 90's house in a game ever. Edited August 19, 2009 by CJ Shearn Quote
chewy-chew-chew-bean-benitez Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 the f. freeloader reminds me of this one weather report song.... Quote
Guest Bill Barton Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I like the Lego Arcades much more than Kind of Bloop even though it is funny in a profoundly warped sort of way. Quote
Teasing the Korean Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 A friend of mine pointed out that "Flamenco Sketches" sounds like Todd circa "A Wizard, A True Star." Quote
