wesbed Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 I dig your avatar, Soulstation1! I dig it too! After making several trips to Columbus, Ohio (from Tucson, Arizona) over the last few months, I'm damned tired of hearing about Buckeyes. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 I hear you! I spend some time on the college football bulletin boards. Let me tell you how those Ohio State fans get to me.... I have a long standing rule to root for any team playing USC. I've developed the same rule for Ohio State. (sorry to any Buckeye fans out there....) Quote

Michigan @ home against OSU Browns @ home against the Steelers i need to do a 2 team parlay. There's a chance; there's a chance. This is not a football thread, but I've got my NFL upset pick of the week already selected: Bills will defeat the Colts. Quote

Hans: From a European viewpoint, what do you think of Stella Artois? Is it considered a 'good' beer or on the same level as Heineken? I'm not a fan of either Heineken or Stella Artois, so I can't really answer your question. Of the more generally available beers in the Netherlands, I like Brand Beer; there are several small Dutch breweries that produce excellent beers, and I'm also fond of a lot of German beers (weizen knows all about those...) catesta Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 EFrom a European viewpoint, what do you think of Stella Artois? Is it considered a 'good' beer or on the same level as Heineken? This is a non-Eorupen viewpoint. I prefer the Stella over the Heineken. I will drink Heineken in a pinch if I see nothing better, but I no longer buy it for home consumption. From the looks of the cooler/dispenser displayed by SS1, any big ass bottle of brew will fit, so load it with what you like. Quote
Chrome Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Another topic dear to my heart ... as long as this thread is going, does anyone have any good beer recommendations? I'll toss one out to get things started: Fuller's India Pale Ale! I love IPAs and this is one of my favorites. Very crisp and tasty. Quote
wesbed Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 I was on a long-term phase with Oranjeboom through most of the summer. With winter moving in I'll be more interested in heavier beers. I like Guinness (of course!). I believe some of the world's best beer is brewed in Belgium. Chimay is good for a special occasion. I've had very enyoyable times with Duvel. Quote

Sorry, but I really hate Oranjeboom; watery beer which used to give me bad hangovers (don't drink it anymore). Duvel is a great Belgian beer, I love it. Quote

I have a couple of friends who laughed out loud at me for saying I thought Oranjeboom was a good beer. Another friend took my recommendation, now loves the brew, and drinks nothing else. I'm thinking maybe Oranjeboom is either loved or hated? Quote

I could give a million recommendations.... One that I only started with a month or two ago is Czechvar, I think you will enjoy it. Some of my all time favorites... Man with the Golden Arm Posted November 21, 2003 Report Posted November 21, 2003 c'mon AB you can make that spit spin can't you... well my heart is back in old 'O' for tomorrow but, speaking of open fires, you gotta love a town that gets together for a hash-fest every year (better than beer)...let's hope M's Chris Perry chuffs some nice lebanese blonde before the big one.
