papsrus
Just started watching it on the Discovery Channel. Pretty entertaining. Laugh-out-loud funny at times. I think they tailor the questions to the passengers. Premise: unsuspecting passengers get in a NYC cab and answer a series of general interest questions until they reach their destination, earning cash for each correct answer. Three wrong answers and you get kicked to the curb on the spot. Fun for the whole family!
catesta
Yeah, I was watching it on a regular basis for a while. They do a little pre screen of the passengers before they get in (where are you from? interests? get a feel for personality, etc.etc.) but from what I understand they still don't know it's for a game show. The bummer is, that isn't real cash he is handing out. The constestants have to wait for a check to be mailed. They all should go for the bonus/video question at the end to double it. Dan Gould
One of my wife's close friends, Natalie Douglas, a terrific singer in the jazz/cabaret/soul field, sent out an email a couple of years ago that she and her husband got in the cash cab and won a bunch of money. I tuned in for their episode and was quite impressed. A number of tough questions they got right, I think they got out with nearly two thousand bucks. I like the fact that they use "Millionaire" lifelines like asking a passerby for help.
Jim R
The bummer is, that isn't real cash he is handing out. The constestants have to wait for a check to be mailed. I figured as much, otherwise you wouldn't see so many of the winners waving around a stack of hundreds when they get out on the sidewalk. We've been fans for quite awhile. I think Ben Bailey is pretty funny. The thing that's always kind of puzzled me about the show is the relatively low reward (the most cash anybody has ever won is something like $2800), considering the difficulty of a lot of the questions. A lot of them are pretty tough, imo. Then there's the fact that so many people forget to use their "shout-outs". ... and the Cash Cab rolls on... I suspect that the "bummer" is due to the fact that Uncle Sam wants his take of the action. If they just gave out cash to passengers, it would be "off the books" and that a TV show cannot do. I've really dug the show however over the past couple of years.

Tim McG
A cool show and the best of fun! My family loves it, too My advice? TAKE THE MONEY!!!!
papsrus
I say, take the money if any one person in the cab doesn't want to risk it. And if it's under $1,000. Anything over that amount, yeah ... TAKE THE MONEY! YMMV ...
Dave James
When I come across the show, I usually watch it for awhile. Pretty interesting...like Jeopardy on wheels. What I can't figure out is why they schlepped Mr. Bailey all the way up to Dutch Harbor, Alaska to moderate the After The Catch segment of Deadliest Catch. What's the connection? Up over and out. Dave James
Mike Rowe, now that's a guy I like. He's kind of like the new millenium's Marlboro Man. Up over and out.
