I wonder... would that mean that the Paris set (#1) and Agartha/Pangaea will be reissued? And the the comeback albums?

What are the bonus tracks on We Want Miles? That will be a 2CD set, then... (and it's mighty fine, in my opinion!)

Also, #39 (Isle of Wight) and #53 look tasty... but why not add a DVD of "Isle of Wight" as well (I have the DVD "Electric Miles" though, but no audio-only of that).

Release date is given as October 26, 2009.

well, it does only contain stuff from the Sony labels, so... no Prestige or other early stuff, and none of the albums from the final period...

Surely I jest.

What of the tracks that were issued on the boxed sets but not included on the individual albums?

Not that I'm going to be parted with a couple of hundred quid for three unissued tracks and a DVD.

I've never heard that one.

It's a beaut. The following night was pretty good too (even if Corea's Rhodes seems to be weirdly out of tune). Now, that would make a good 2CD set.

Agartha/Pangaea seem to be still in print.

I don't know man...Amandla isn't part of the set.

That's the deal breaker. :alien:

Wasn't that on Warner Brothers?

Yep, Amandla was a Warner Bros. album, so it's not included in the Sony set.

Are the ones in the box the Japanese Mastersound versions (which are several minutes longer)?

What is the market for this anyway? Doesn't everyone who might want this much Miles already have 68 of the 70 CDs?

People with a lot of money who don't have any Miles in their collection (if they have one at all) who heard that Miles is hip and they want to be hip too...maybe people will like them if they own the box...then they can say they own the Complete Miles Davis box.

edit: cynical? no, why do you ask?

Would like to know which masters, what bonus cuts, what the packaging is, etc. At that price, it might have it's purposes, not cost prohibitive the way the 09/09/09 Beatles boxes are. Sony/BMG has some great bargains out there at this point, but on stuff that interested customers likely already own.

I'm usually a complete sucker for anything Milesian but having got pretty well everything he did for CBS on vinyl plus the Sony boxes on CD there would have to be something pretty well unique and revolutionary in this box for me to pounce. Shame - I like the idea of another Miles box..

I'd rather have a 'Complete Rubber Band' box, come to think of it.

These are the only ones I am lacking at the moment, I think:

1 Paris Festival Int. de Jazz May, 1949

37 Black Beauty: Miles Davis at Fillmore East (1970)

38 At Fillmore: Live at the Fillmore East (1970)

39 Isle of Wight (1970)

40 Live / Evil (1970)

42 In Concert (1972)

43 Dark Magus (1974)

45 Agharta (1975)

46 Pangaea (1975)

47 The man with the horn (1981-81)

48 We want Miles + 3 bonus tracks (1981)

50 Decoy (1983)

51 You´re under arrest (1984-85)

I also have Miles! Miles! Miles! which is missing from this complete box.

Need to work on the 70's live stuff!
