Hardbopjazz Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I keep hearing Recorda Me by Joe Henderson. I can't get it out of my mind. What's stuck or was stuck in your head? Quote

jazzbo Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I have lots of tunes that are sort of bedrock in my brain. I notice some of them because they come out when I play instruments. This year they've included Tenderly, Stardust, This is No Ordinary Love, and lately If Ever I Would Leave You. Quote
AndrewHill Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 The Wimbledon music they played everytime they went to a commercial. It was there a good week after the tournament was over. Quote

Jazzmoose Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 No, I mean... Though, as a card-carrying member of the I Hate David Spade club, that would be bad enough... Quote
Jim R Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I have lots of tunes that are sort of bedrock in my brain. I notice some of them because they come out when I play instruments. This year they've included Tenderly, Stardust, This is No Ordinary Love, and lately If Ever I Would Leave You. Good stuff, Lon. I've played "If Ever I Would Leave You" fairly recently also (I've always liked Joshua Breakstone's version on Contemporary). If I go too long without listening to good music (or playing my guitars), I can too easily get absurdly bad things stuck in my head. It doesn't necessarily even require extended exposure (in fact, I really wish I hadn't read the comment above about "Yummy Yummy Yummy"...) Quote

andybleaden Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 The one that plays over and over for the last few weeks is Horace Silver - Song for my Father Quote
Joe G Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Last night at work I heard "Still Loving You" by the Scorpians. Haven't heard it since high school. Been in my head all morning. Quote
Drew Peacock Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Give me that fillet-o-fish, just give me that fish Give me that fillet-o-fish, just give me that fish How would you like it if you were stuck on this wall If that was you in that sandwich you wouldn't be laughing at all Aarrgh. No matter how much jazz I listen to this is burned into my memory. I hear the sandwich is terrible too, way to much salt. Quote
JSngry Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 It's only terrible if you think of it in terms of a fish sandwich... Quote

peterintoronto Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I'm An Old Cowhand - Sonny Rollins. I even catch myself whistling the song. It used to be Dexter Gordon's 'Doin' Alright' for the longest time. Quote
AllenLowe Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) I don't hear a particular tune, but I constantly have chord changes running through my head. I think it's a way of practicing when I don't have time to pick up an instrument - and sometimes I whistle along in a quiet way, which drives my wife crazy (lately I've been working on the bridge, in this way, to Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. But I don't hear the melody, just see the changes as though spread out on a keyboard). Edited July 19, 2009 by AllenLowe Quote

peterintoronto Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 "People Make The Word Go Round" I thought it was "Money makes the world go around?" Lambert, Hendricks and Ross. 'People Make The World Go Round" is a composition by The Stylistics. Milt Jackson does a neat cover on his CTI album, 'Sunflower'. Quote
