He was apparently strangled with the strap of a purse, which was found with blood stains, and she can't explain ten hours in the room not realizing he was dead. Hard to imagine a woman could have killed such a man but apparently they were having problems ... very sad.

Gatti was a lesser champion in that he was beaten quite often, and took great punishment even in his wins. He hardly goes down as a great champion, but at the same time, he gave his all in every fight, and always showed courage. Definitely was a fan favorite, though my preference was always for more skilled fighters.

I saw on the scroll that the wife has been arrested. I have to imagine that the head wound knocked him out and she strangled him with the purse strap while he was incapacitated. Probably helped if he was drunk when he returned to the room, as it has been reported.

I agree completely, but you always knew you were going to see a hell of a fight when Gatti got in the ring.

He was involved in more FOTY than any other fighter.

Boxing black streak keeps on going, after Arguello, Gatti, now Vernon Forrest was killed in a robbery.

Forrest became famous after beating twice Shane Mosley, after being on the shelves after an injury he got his career back on track and was in the mix as one of the best 154 pounders in the world. He will also be remembered for his work with mentally challenged adults.

RIP Viper.

I saw this a couple of days ago, and my first thought was, why are they taking the wife's claim he was suicidal when it helps to get her out of jail? By all accounts it was an extremely volatile relationship, yet this was their 'second honeymoon' - they have a fight and he kills himself out of fear that she would leave him?

It doesn't make sense, and if they really find it impossible that she hoisted and got his body suspended off a pipe or whatever, did they exhaust the possibility she had accomplices?

Very strange and of course very sad anyway you slice it.
