rostasi Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Gale Storm, perky star of 1950s TV, dies at 87 LOS ANGELES — Gale Storm, whose wholesome appearance and perky personality made her one of early television's biggest stars on "My Little Margie" and "The Gale Storm Show," has died at age 87. Storm, who had been in failing health in recent years, died Saturday at a convalescent hospital in Danville, said her son, Peter Bonnell. Before landing the starring role in "My Little Margie" in 1952, Storm appeared in numerous B movies opposite such stars as Roy Rogers, Eddie Albert and Jackie Cooper. After her last TV series, "The Gale Storm Show," ended in 1960 she went on to a successful singing career while continuing to make occasional TV appearances... Quote
Larry Kart Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 The story mentions that the stage name she was given is kind of funny when you think about it. Then I thought of the actual name of former New York Times editor Howell Raines. Also, am I the only kid on the block who had moderately salacious thoughts about Margie? Quote
Matthew Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I think a better question is: Who didn't you guys have salacious thoughts about? Quote
Larry Kart Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Moderately? Yes, by comparison with those Breck shampoo ads with Piper Laurie and Terry Moore. What a disappointment it was to discover that there are no women who actually look like that! Matthew: You've got a point, but age 10 or so, one had little or no choice. Quote
Harold_Z Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Vern Albright, Mr. Honeywell and MY LITTLE MAHJEE ! RIP Gale. In truth I thought she was already gone but seeing this brought back a STORM of memories. Quote
Larry Kart Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 In case you're thinking about Piper Laurie in "Carrie," this is what I'm talkin' about: http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...sa%3DX%26um%3D1 As for Terry Moore, they don't make corn-fed American carnality like this anymore (actually Moore, b. 1929, was a bit older than Laurie, b. 1932, though Moore held up better, doing a celebrated Playboy spread in 1984!): http://j.bdbphotos.com/pictures/J/1L/J1H7F5P_large.jpg http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...t%3D20%26um%3D1 Quote
Larry Kart Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Actually, this is the Piper Laurie image I meant: http://www.allstarpics.net/photo-gallery/1...-laurie-pic.htm Quote
Jazzmoose Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Wow. When I think of Piper Laurie, I think of this: http://www.dreadcentral.com/img/news/jul08/piperlaurie.jpg Mind you, I still like it... Quote
GA Russell Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Wasn't Terry Moore one of Howard Hughes's girlfriends? Quote
BruceH Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 Wasn't Terry Moore one of Howard Hughes's girlfriends? Supposedly she was secretly married to him. What the real story is, who-the-fuck knows? Quote

Not sure what HH would see in her....! m It was somewhat characteristic of Ms. Moore throughout her career as a photo subject that her body and her head/face seemed to belong to two different worlds, but this is insane! On the other hand, if it's from her 1984 Playboy spread, she was 55 years old at the time. Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted June 29, 2009 Report Posted June 29, 2009 I could still get the hots for the older Ms Laurie. She be fine for me. -_- Ms Moore only distracted me for a minute. I got more pleasure from a romantic vision of Joan of Arc on the end of a peach crate. A female encased in metal, with a blade got me hot at 10. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted June 30, 2009 Report Posted June 30, 2009 ...........aloc is sad to say that a mature betty furness in a westinghouse commercial on studio one or westinghouse presents or something stimulated a tenderaged aloc. aloc always did, and still has, eccentric tastes, but margie's perkiness........ tyler moore copped a very tiny measure of margies bubbly qualities. is margie still being shown, except in rest homes?
