Hi!

Just got home yesterday from the local vendor in Stockholm with two used Mosaic boxes under my arms. The Ike Quebec 45 sessions (2CD) and the Kenton Complete Capitol 43-47. I paid about $100 for the two boxes.

Was it an OK buy moneywise or did I pay too much?

The music is great BTW!

I guess 100$ for the Kenton alone is a steal! It was more expensive than that when it was new!

It's formative stuff, but there's a lot to enjoy!

The Quebec has been reissued by Blue Note - fine music!

Oh Man, you got Shafted!

Sorry, just an English/American colloqialism.

I bet I've been to that shop in Stockholm. There's only one where I've seen Mosaics.

In the end, if you like the music, the price is EXTRA good.

Ha ha Getting "Shafted" is not so good in my book

Are you the bebop guy hanging around the swedish Euphonia Forum?

I've listened more tonight and YES I really like them. They are very different of course. Kenton is very listenable - kind of "swings with a twist" (remember it's 1943). Good sound too.

The Quebec is way cool. Ike is soooo relaxed and swingin. Good backup from not so well known names.

Thanks for the thumbs up Mr Nessa! ;-)

Ken, I guess you are right.

BTW - I just love those booklets from mosaic - a jazz lovers dream. I was just sitting last night and looking at all them pictures and reading about Ike's career at Blue Note and his struggle with cancer. It really adds a new dimension to the music.
