mjzee Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I gotta say that, every time I see a new posting in the "Artists" thread, I think, oh no, who died... To prevent these premonitory shivers, maybe we can add an "RIP" section, where we can respectfully discuss those who have passed on. We can then leave the "Artists" thread to those who are either happily with us, or have been gone long enough that the edge has worn off. Worth a thought. Quote

I suggested this a while back, can't find the thread/post now, and no one was into it. I still think it's a good idea. :tup Quote
paul secor Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I feel that having an RIP forum would be a depressing thing. Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I feel that having an RIP forum would be a depressing thing. And listing who died in the Artists thread isn't??? Quote

Use3D Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 What? A RIP thread? You mean a new forum where we only talk about dead people? Eh I don't think so. Quote
Niko Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 what i find depressing is posting rip-content in non-rip threads like the recent hugh hopper thread... (though admittedly that one was an illness thread) Quote
7/4 Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 what i find depressing is posting rip-content in non-rip threads like the recent hugh hopper thread... (though admittedly that one was an illness thread) I was searching to see if someone already started a thread about his passing. There was none so I just added to an existing thread. I expected the person who made the original post would take the opportunity to update the subject. So sorry to make a ripple in the pond. Quote

Chuck Nessa Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 How about a "ripped thread" so we could tell the state of the posters without having to guess? Quote
Cliff Englewood Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 And I thought that the "David S. Ware needs a new kidney" thread should have been posted in "Offering and Looking For... " Quote

Dan Gould Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 How about a "ripped thread" so we could tell the state of the posters without having to guess? Don't we already have that with the "coherence is overrated" thread? Quote

I expected the person who made the original post would take the opportunity to update the subject. So sorry to make a ripple in the pond. I should have changed the title, sorry. I don't think it's too much to worry about. edit: but a moderator could have done this too. edit II: what I wanted to say was don't worry about it. I shouldn't have been posting while at work. Van Basten II Posted June 21, 2009 Report Posted June 21, 2009 To get back on the original, it is well thought but for me there is a flaw, for my part i have little to no interest to check out a thread to know who died lately, so to me the better way to be aware of someone's passing is via a thread in the honor of that person.
