A Lark Ascending Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Overheard words to that effect at the weekend. And the website has vanished. Though the recordings are still there on e-music. A pity...a great source for contemporary European jazz. Quote
relyles Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 That is unfortunate. Some very good music on that label - not only European, but also all of Steve Coleman's recent recordings were on the label and we can't forget the great Bunky Green disc from a couple of years ago. Quote
A Lark Ascending Posted May 28, 2009 Author Report Posted May 28, 2009 Must have missed the news. There were a few collapses last year - some major UK distributors in particular that it was easy to miss other casualties. I wonder how the thing with e-music works. All profits to pay creditors? Quote
porcy62 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 (edited) Hm. Bad news indeed. Yes, bad news, they have a very good catalog of 'world' music too, and don't forget David Krakauer! Edited May 28, 2009 by porcy62 Quote
Chuck Nessa Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 No mention of the Charles Tyler cds. I have 5 of them. Quote

king ubu Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 That's very sad news. Lots of good European jazz there, too (think of Henri Texier mainly). Quote

Claude Posted May 29, 2009 Report Posted May 29, 2009 (edited) I heard they went under last year. Already in July 2007. The french Wikipedia page says that they had financial problems since the end of 2005, when the sales of their biggest selling artists dropped (Romano-Sclavis-Texier sold 800 copies in 2000, but only 150 in 2005). In 2006 they made a 100.000 Euro deficit, and reduced their recording sessions. In July 2007, they ended all activities. No bancrupcy was filed, but the company is no longer active. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Label_Bleu Edited May 29, 2009 by Claude Quote
Tom Storer Posted May 31, 2009 Report Posted May 31, 2009 In the June issue of the French monthly Jazz Magazine, there's an ad that says "Label Bleu reissues 12 essential references." Their website is currently online. The content of the site seems to be two years old and doesn't mention these reissues, but apparently the Maison de Culture d'Amiens, a municipal cultural center under whose auspices the label was created, has found a new distributor for the back catalog, Sphinx Distribution, in Paris. Here are the 12 reissues: Marc Ducret, Gris Daniel Goyone, 2 Daniel Humair, Edges David Linx/Diederik Wissels, Bandarkah D'Andra/Humair/Rava/Vitous, Earthcake Enrico Rava, L'Opéra Va Barbara Casini/Enrico Rava, Vento Palatino (Romano/Benita/Fresu/Ferris), Palatino Palatino (Romano/Benita/Fresu/Ferris), Tempo Enrico Rava, Carmen Henri Texier Trio, The Scene Is Clean Henri Texier, Skopja Quote
