Rooster_Ties Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I'm down for several of these. Hope they do an Andrew Hill cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
sidewinder Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 A 'Point of Departure' to wear on the beach would be beyond cool !!! Quote
JSngry Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 (edited) Wow, it's the 70s all over again! I say that because there was this cat in Denton back then who found one of those "custom t-shirt" stores (you know, the kind that would put whatever catchy saying or slogan you wanted on a t-shirt, don't know if they still exist these days) that had the technology to xerox an album cover, turn it into an iron-on transfer, and then put it on a t-shirt. Well, this cat was a big UNITY freak, so one day he shows up wearing a UNITY t-shirt, and everybody just went apeshit. A mini-fad followed. But THESE - these look like true professional jobs. Those old ones had an annoying habit of the transfers wearing away REALY quickly after a few washings. Edited November 14, 2003 by JSngry Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Can I get a "HELLYEAH!" ??? Its about damn time. I think that INDESTRUCTIBLE! t-shirt is amazing. I love typography. Unity is great, but INDESTRUCTIBLE is, well, HELL YEAH! Quote
pryan Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Those look pretty hip, indeed! X-Mas wish list just got a little bit longer. Quote
rockefeller center Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Would like to get a Blue Note Bulletin Board shirt. Quote
sidewinder Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 It would be nice if these guys also produced a high quality sweat-shirt version of these titles. In high quality cotton. Quote
Jim Alfredson Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 That's funny about the Unity shirt thing, Sangry. About four years ago at the Detroit Jazz Fest, Joe and I saw a dude wearing a Unity t-shirt and we both wondered where he got it and thought it was the coolest thing. It's still pretty cool, I must say. Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 Would like to get a Blue Note Bulletin Board shirt. I guess this is their second batch of releases. I heard the first batch didn't sell too well. Quote

mikeweil Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 I say that because there was this cat in Denton back then who found one of those "custom t-shirt" stores (you know, the kind that would put whatever catchy saying or slogan you wanted on a t-shirt, don't know if they still exist these days) that had the technology to xerox an album cover, turn it into an iron-on transfer, and then put it on a t-shirt. Well, this cat was a big UNITY freak, so one day he shows up wearing a UNITY t-shirt, and everybody just went apeshit. A mini-fad followed. Is this rare in the US? I know a copyshop next town who will print ANYTHING on a tee shirt or sweatshirt of your choice, as long as you have it as a data file on floppy disk or CDR, including, of course, Blue Note LP covers .... and it's not expensive! And it doesn't wear out! Quote
.:.impossible Posted November 15, 2003 Report Posted November 15, 2003 No. Its not rare at all. I'm sure its the same in the UK. It is rare for someone to have the initiative to have their very own unique t-shirt printed. That's all. It isn't difficult to find a screen print shop. This is probably a USA phenomenon. A store called Urban Outfitters. They basically reprint t-shirts that read "Don't Mess With Texas" or "Jesus Yellow on green with an outline of the state boundary. T-shirt sells for just under $20. You can buy an authentic CBGB t-shirt for the same price, plus it is already worn in! If you are interested in iron-ons, you are going to have to find an underground source, or you can buy a kit to print out on your desktop HP printer. Here's a great Urban Outfitters t. As seen on Sabado Night Live worn by Justin Timberlake. Also seen on Punk'd worn by, yes, I believe so, Brittany Spears. $20? Sorry. My price is $28. This ain't ebay, sucka. Oh, by the way... Jesus is my homeboy. Quote
chris olivarez Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 Those Blue Note T Shirts look pretty cool. I'd like to see one with the Lee Morgan "Search For The New Land" cover though any Lee Morgan t shirt would be cool. Quote
couw Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 it seems to me they have focussed on designs that can stand on their own without any jazz necessary reference. From that viewpoint any shirts with "our" heroes on them are unlikely to hit the market. Quote
PHILLYQ Posted November 20, 2003 Report Posted November 20, 2003 DISCLAIMER: I HAVE NO FINANCIAL OR OTHER INTEREST IN THIS COMPANY, BUT THEY DO MAKE SOME GREAT SHIRTS Check out this site for some really cool t-shirts- I've ordered a bunch from them and their prices and service are excellent. Vey good quality tees, and where else could you get a SunRa shirt? http://www.gearink.com/ Quote
