sheldonm Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) ...has passed away. Loved him as an Indiana Pacer for several seasons...not so much as a smooth jazz artist! Met him on a handful of occasions as I use to do some photography for the Pacers years ago.....he was always smiling; wish more people were like him! Sorry to see him go. http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/9578270...dale-dead-at-44 m~ Edited May 15, 2009 by sheldonm Quote
Hardbopjazz Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 I always knew him as a smooth jazz player. Regardless at 44, it was too young to die. Quote
alocispepraluger102 Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) talented beyond belief, and a really nice guy. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...=tisdale-081203 Edited May 15, 2009 by alocispepraluger102 Quote
T.D. Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Damn. I recall reading about the lower leg amputation, but didn't know his health had gotten worse from there. RIP. Quote
dova Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 Jazz Bassist Waymon tisdale dies after a 2 year fight with cancer. I just did a gig with Waymons uncle and was told he died last night in a local hospital. I didn't really follow his music but he was long admired in the community and Oklahoma as an awesome baskeball star and recording artist. My prayers go out to his family. Quote
mgraham333 Posted May 15, 2009 Report Posted May 15, 2009 I have: In The Zone (1995) and Decisions (1998) My Dad took our family to Norman quite a bit to watch him play basketball at OU. I met him and spoke to him briefly a few times over the years - like so many others have said, he was always very nice and had a big smile for everyone. Quote
Kari S Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Am I being overly pedantic for being annoyed that he's referred to as a "jazz musician" pretty much everywhere (like here http://www.nba.com/2009/news/05/21/tisdale.silva/index.html), "playing jazz, a music he came to master". That said, still quite a shock. Quote
catesta Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) Shit, I didn't follow his music career so had no idea he was sick. Also didn't realize when I was watching him play he was only a couple of years older than me, damn. RIP, Waymon. edit for spelling Edited May 22, 2009 by catesta Quote
Soulstation1 Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 Not 100% certain I believe I saw Tisdale play with the Suns in 1998 He's 3 years older than me Tisdale and Durant are the only two freshman all americans I'd probably add Lebron's name if he went to college Quote
