Bill Evans Village Vanguard 1961

There is a new Japanese-produced 3CD box released by Warner Europe with all the material Village Vanguard 1961 Bill Evans/Scott LaFaro/Paul Motian.

The box seems to contain one additional track and various short tracks featuring introductions and talks between the musicians.

Sound has been analog mastered.

Anybody heard this yet? Is the sound improved over the previous issues?

I have 2 of the single CD releases (OJC reissue): "Sunday at the Village Vanguard" and "Waltz for Debbie". Sound´s OK for me. Let´s see if I pick "More from the Village Vanguard" or this 3CD-box set.

I had the Japanese box but sold it. There's only one track not available elsewhere and it's not even a complete track!!!!

The sound is good but not better than the Japanese 20 Bit Digital K2 version I already had.

Don't you get all this in the order it was recorded on the Complete Bill Evans Riverside box?

Just as the Complete Miles Box gives you the 2 final Prestige sessions in the order in which they were recorded.

As far as sound is concerned, you can't go better than with the SACDs of the two original albums, which contain the same bonus tracks as on the normal CDs. The CD layer also sounds excellent.

I agree, the SACDs are the best sounding versions I've heard.

The short tracks and talk between the musicians are not in the Fantasy 8 CD box (apart from a short last track with a bit of fun with some classical piano).

I have the complete Bill Evans on Riverside which contains all the tracks, as far as I know.

I've always enjoyed these in spite of the audience chatter.
