Spontooneous Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Toolin' around town today, I saw a big photo of Miles on a billboard. It's a great, striking image, circa 1970 I'd guess. The b&w photo dominates the billboard. Off to the right is a slogan, "Never blend in," and a little logo for Hennessy cognac. Oh, crap. That old jazz-and-booze connection again. Am I off base for being bothered by this use of his image? Quote
Rooster_Ties Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 Wow, where'd you see it?? On the one hand, I half agree with you. On the other, seeing any picture of Miles in the '70 in a public setting (even in an ad for booze) is kinda half-cool. Would depend on the context (and location too, perhaps). Quote
AfricaBrass Posted November 12, 2003 Report Posted November 12, 2003 (edited) Welcome to the board, Spontooneous! I guess jazz and alcohol have an association since the music is performed in clubs where alcohol is served. ....but using Miles to sell the booze is a little crass to me. This reminds me of some cd covers I made when BN did their "Art of Indulgence" tie-in CD. Edited November 12, 2003 by AfricaBrass Quote

7/4 Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 Actually, around ten years ago, I regularily would have a beer for breakfast. Ouch! Wow - only if I'm hung over and have no plans for the day! And then it's gotta be a light beer! Quote
Jazzmoose Posted November 13, 2003 Report Posted November 13, 2003 I remember a few Tequila breakfasts, but that was long ago and hopefully far away! *Shudder!* Quote
